Yesterday I was almost at the end of my work day when I started comming down with a severe case of the chills, since I was about 20 miles from home I had no choice but to get in my car and turn the heater on. Mind you it was 75 degrees out. Turns out I have a fever of almost 103. This experience made me realize to stop puttin off by car bug out pack. More then like it is just a case of the common flu, But if we were ever hit by a bio attack you should make sure that you have extra blankets in you car. Normally quick onset fever is one of the first symptoms of an attack followed by chills and welts. Since our bodies would go into some sort of shock having blankets immediately ready would lessen the disconfort. Pray that a bio attack never happens but be ready just in case. Very interesting times we live in.

Mike,

Take care and rest easy.

To many people I know have come down with some type of pneumonia lately. One case led to septic shock.

Any flu like symtom should be given prompt and proper attention.

Does everyone have an old fashioned glass thermometer or two?

Hey Mike - I guess I can *be* like you huh?

Just paid a visit to the Army Navy Surplus, and picked up some MORE last minute items. I already had purchased some bunny boots, extreme cold weather gear, and figured it was a time to get some wet weather gear as well. I particularly liked the German rubberized poncho, and also the flight jacket, but I couldn't afford both, so I chose the poncho. I hate being cold AND wet, or vice-a versa.

They also have some very fine lookiing wool blankets, both the bunk style and the hospital variety. The hospital blanket looks less scratchy, but it is white, so I'll opt for the army drab, if I get to that point. They are expensive though, 18.00 each. I wish I had a couple a hundred spare dollars, :`0, so I could pick up some wants instead of just the needs.

Am still short the waterproof matches @ 2.59, a German folding shovel, @ 24.00, and some heavy wool pants, and shirts.

I expect to be on the Mr. Gadget fixit squad, so I'm planning on acquiring some surplus lubricants, heavy tarpaulins, and wire rope. I hope there is still time!!

PS. Those jams I've been canning should taste pretty swell at break time.

This is going to sound pretty off-the-wall,... but... have you done much reading/listening about Gulf War Syndrome? There is some discussion that people have come down with "it" by buying military surplus stuff that was brought back from the Gulf War. [in case you didn't have enough to worry about]
