Potatoes!!!

It's been at least 15 years since I had a garden. I can't remember how to tell when it is time to dig up the potatoes. Could someone please jog my old memory? Thanks!!!

When the top vines have turned brown/"died"...most gardeners in my area are digging their potatoes now--except for the sweet varieties.

Lori, As above.Just dig up one root when you think they are ready & see whether they have reached the right size.If not leave for a while.

If you want "new potatos"- to eat in summer- poke around after the plants have flowered- definitely past that now- and gently pry up some tubers to use as you will. for storage crops- wait til the vines have turned brown and died back-then happy digging!
