Why Y2k is like an STD.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Would you have unprotected sex with an unknown partner? Even if that partner assured you that they were STD compliant? "Oh those sores? That rash? Really, its no problem. Really. Use condoms? Whatever for I told you Sugarlips, I'm clean - fully remediated. The proof? Oh those reports are confidential - sorry."

Not to worry though. Because even though Lover Boy has had unprotected sex with multiple partners he "knows" that they are STD compliant too because they said so. I am sure that they wouldn't lie about something as serious and life threatening as STDs. Not only that I'm sure that their partners never lied to get laid either. In fact no one ever lies about something deadly just to get a short term gain like sex or money. Right?

So go ahead. Sail into Y2k without basic protection and preparations. While your at it forget the whole safe sex thing too because the odds of your being affected adversly by Y2k is significantly higher than the odds of contracting an STD with unprotected sex.

Got Condoms?

I would have thought it's more like a circumcision, on a 1,999 year old patient, without any anaesthetic... :)

great argument.

Not a bad analogy, Byte. No one EVER lies about sex, do they? Why would we be surprised when people lie when the stakes approach infinitity?

Unfortunately, while there are cures for many STD's, there is none for Y2K. Even more unfortunate, Y2K will end up being far more fatal than any STD.

If you have any fears, then schedule an appointment with your doctor NOW!

Its @ coming soon,

Nothing is more fatal or drawn out than AIDS. There are many similarities between AIDS and Y2k failures. We are talking breakdown in immune functioning (the DOD, emergency services, the entire medical industry etc..) As well as poor circulation (shipping down) and trouble metabalizing energy (power industry).

To say we can FOF after 01/01/00 is like saying "Well we've tried for years to cure AIDS. Weve poured buckets of money into it - all the brightest minds and up-to-the-minute tech and we still couldn't heal the poor bastard so when he dies we will see what systems break down first. Then we will fix all those things and bring him back to life!

Voila'!!!
