Premonition?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

It's about five in the morning here in Sydney. Still dark and will be for at least another hour.

I've just had.. just had a dream. A feeling that has scared the shit out of me, more than anything has ever been able to do so before. How scared? Well, on waking up, I just lay there for minutes, still, my eyes looking around the room to see where It was. Then I recollected that it wasn't some physical fear but a fear of something oncoming, something big and nasty and more dangerous, more threatening, than ANY physical thing, be it monster or supernatural or unpleasant human, could do.

Something bad is coming this way, people. I can feel it, and it scares me SHITLESS. Something horrible, something disastrous, will come to pass. I don't recall the dream's details, but I do recall that I was more scared than I've ever been in my life -and I don't frighten easily.

I've already got a month's supply of food. As of four hours from now, when the stores open, I'm going to start increasing that to a year. I don't know if whatever-it-is that's coming has a shape, and I don't think it's got a name, but I know that it's going to come and I don't think it can be stopped.

Leo,

Four times in the past two weeks I have woken up in a cold sweat - absolutely terrified that something was wrong - something was going to happen. I knew I had been dreaming, but each time, I couldn't remember what the dream was about. Once I got my courage up, I would do an inspection of the house, but never find anything wrong. Go back to bed and toss and turn for a couple of hours.

I've known about y2k for two(?) years and had many sleepless nights in the beginning - this is different. In the past, I have had dreams that came true later, but I've never had something like this happen before. Anyhow, I feel it too! Keep increasing those supplies. I feel pretty confident in the supplies I have, so that at least, is a comfort.

Finally some convincing evidence that Y2K is going to be bad. I wish I hadn't waited so long to start preparing.

-- psychic (psychic@birth.ccom), August 04, 1999.

Leo,

I don't mean to discount the importance of your "premonition" but keep in mind that it could be just a result of all the anxiety and uncertainty around this Y2k issue. It is normal to try to figure out what are best and worst case scenarios but because this problem is impossible to get a firm handle on, it leaves us hanging, worrying. During stressful times many folks wake out of sleep in a panic - heart pounding, sweating, fearful - our subconscious at work! Once the sun comes up, perspective returns. I don't refuse to believe that some "premonitions" happen but I think at least some of them are simply anxiety rearing it's face. Hang in there - yeah, I keep buying just a little more food each week...... sigh......

-- Kristi (securxsys@cs.com), August 04, 1999.

Well, I agree, I do have quite a bit on my mind, and that may very well be why I have had these experiences. But you know what, I have learned to trust my intuition - it has never let me down when I listen to it. And I HAVE had weird experiences of knowing things before they happen. Things that I couldn't even begin to explain. However, when that happens, it is usually something specific enough that I can tell someone (before, so I have verification later). These "dreams" have been different, just very vague feelings of "something".

Hi Leo:

It's kinda funny how people who don't want to know can always find a way to discount.

Many years ago, when I was a kid, we had a neighbor -- old man, really, lived alone, nice enough, I used to mow his lawn. His nephew had been lost with the Titanic, a fact that was pretty well known and occasionally discussed in the neighborhood.

Being a kid, and generally pretty tactless, I asked him about the nephew one day. He told me that it was true, the nephew had died on the ship -- he'd been on his way to University in England.

But the thing that was most strange about the story was this: the old guy said that two days before the ship was to leave, the nephew had a dream. It was terrifying and awoke him from his sleep. He was so frightened, he said, that he refused to make the voyage.

The old guy said that he asked the nephew what the dream was about -- and the nephew said something like, 'I don't remember. It was just so horrible, I felt like I was going to die...'

Family, of course, said he was just overreacting to the fear of going to a foreign country, off to a new school, that sort of thing.

We all know what happened next.

Anyway, the old guy never forgave himself for persuading the kid to go. He said, several times, "I wish I had listened."

I've had a lot of occasion to remember this, lately.

Hey Leo, glad you spoke up.

I haven't had y2k angst dreams for months, many months.

But in the last couple of weeks I've had two amorphous horror dreams, not about y2k.

Some of the skeptics in this thread bring up good points in saying that our dreams are influenced by our daily input. Certainly there has been enough negative stuff to provide fodder for our unconsciousness to create bad dreams.

These dreams are different. Mine happened before any of the Yourdan Forum threads came up for discussion, and I hadn't discussed any angst re the nearby future. Never in my life have I had dreams of such non- specific dread and foreboding, seemingly pointing to something happening within the next few weeks of August or early September. The something seems to me to be _way_ to big to prepare for in a way such we might prepare for y2k.

I for one fervently hope that my subconscious is doing no more than playing and paying for my ticket through "The House of Horrors"!

Uhhh.... Anita, the Titanic was coming FROM Britain TO New York. Maybe the kid was coming home from school?

Otherwise it's a good story... But people will always nit-pick so you may as well get the details right.

-- ice (burg@dead.ahead), August 04, 1999.

Ice: Of course, you are right; and certainly the information on the Titanic is well known -- probably everybody in the world has see the movie.

However, I was reporting what the old guy told me -- was he confused? Maybe, he was quite old at the time. Had his recollection changed some of the details? Had the nephew contacted him from England via telegraph? Did he make the whole thing up? Maybe, although he did seem very troubled. Is my memory of it wrong? Sure; I was nine when the guy told me, and we never discussed it again. The old guy died in 1968.

Take it as you will.

Hi Leo.

Is your email address real?

I'll send you an "e" if it is.

BTW, I'm a veteran of the "procognitive dream" world. I've only had one, the day before one of my siblings suddenly died of a heart attack during a ball game.

I don't wish to have another, because I spent years trying to figure out why God [yes I do believe in a supreme being] would have allowed me a warning [if that's what it was)]when it did no good at all.

After agonizing about whether or not I should tell her, the next day I decided to share details of the dream with my elderly mother via long distance. Since there was an alleged family history of this type of dream in our family, she said she was glad I told her.

She saw my sibling later that same day before the ballgame. I never asked her if she shared details of the dream with my sibling before the game. I would guess that she probably didn't, for fear of being scoffed at. Any way, the paramedics got there too late.

I haven't had any bad dreams lately, for what it's worth. That doesn't make me any less interested in YOURS Leo!

Hey Leo,

Don't fret at the scoffers.

My brother (not religious) had pretty much the same type of "vision" that you did last Summer, though he remembered specific parts of this "vision". At the time he had no knowledge (nor did I) of Y2K or even what Y2K was.

He was freaked and started stockpiling food and water because the one clear message he got from his nightmare was that "Time is short - this is your only warning". He said this wasn't spoken, just understood in his nightmare.

My family and I left metro Chicago last August for the hills....my brother joined us this April, giving up a 42K salary to work for $7 an hour....and he's grateful.

Yes, truly. Something Wicked this Way Comes.

Leo:

I was just closing down and out and happened to see your post.

The laughfter will soon cease and men will seek their own abode and standing before God. Their cries will not be heard by God.

It is a wonderful thing that that God will use every means to get a persons attention.

Those that do not know the difference between Gods Word and those of satan have no need to prepare for Y2K.

When Gods tries the soul, the head and then the heart, either in dreams and visions and he canno't get their attention, the time for that person has run its course and is given up for satan to do with as he pleases.

There are prophets today that are afraid to speak, Because they remember the the prophets of old and will not do as God has comanded.

The terrible sights are the four winds from the four corners of the earth whish will bring destrustion upon all this land. And then we will understand the mark of cain who slew his brother in the field.

The winds carry a curse to those that seek after fortune tellers and those that seek charts of the heavens to make their day worth living.

The world is now turned upside down and confidence in anything or anybody is not to be found.

Fear not and and pray sincere prayers that you will not be amoung those that will perish by the sword that will seperate those that seek earthly things and those that seek heavenly things.

This is a time for weeping and not laughfter.

No disrepect intended Leo......

You were saying the same sort of things last year too on this forum and I got trashed by some here for suggesting you get professional help, at least to ascertain whether perhaps you were suffering from clinical depression...........

Of course, all the bad things you were fearing then never came to pass.....

Sure, it is possible to have meaningful dreams.......however jumping to conclusions that something horribly bad will happen does not make sense.......

There are no doubt hundreds, if not thousands of people that read these posts.......the odds say that of all those people, a certain percentage will have had horrible dreams during the last few nights.

The mental stress alone of worrying about Y2k can bring them on.....not to mention the everyday stresses of life.

You're not doing yourself any favours by reading too much into your nightmares, and may in fact be seriously harming your mental health. Quite frankly I'm shocked by all the people that are encouraging you in this rather than being kind enough to suggest you really do try to calm down and perhaps even see a Doctor.

-- Ray (ray@totacc.com), August 04, 1999.

Craig, We're talking about dreams here. Not necessarily reality, don't you get it? Life in general has its stressors, y2k for some is part of the stress. We can type here and debate about degrees, etc. but I won't go there, it's been hashed before. People respond differently to stress. Anxiety manifests itself as such, differently. If you are comfortable with your anxiety and stress management techniques, if you have any, great. Others may want to share their experiences with others as a method of release. Why are you so concerned about what other adults choose to do in the realm of cyber conversation?

-- Barb (awaltrip@telepath.com), August 04, 1999.

Barb, because Craig used to have a Messiah Complex, but he ditched it, although a little bit remains.

He does have a good heart - but he's the most flagrant example of one- dimensionalism I've ever come across.

-- lisa (lisa@work.now), August 04, 1999.

Barb.........

Leo said "Something bad is coming this way, people. I can feel it, and it scares me SHITLESS. Something horrible, something disastrous, will come to pass.".......

Certainly he had a dream.....but his response to the dream as evidenced by his statement above, is not one of treating it like a dream but rather he is CONVINCED disastrous things are imminent.

I have only shared my honest opinion about this, as you have done. My honest opinion is that it is not wise and perhaps even harmful to put so much weight on a nightmare that you have.

To be honest Barb, it would be far easier to be a "Yes" man and go with the crowd and tell Leo what the rest of you seem to be telling him: encouraging him in this unhealthy obsession with a nightmare.

If you think it is a good thing that he dwell on this and take action based on a nightmare he has had, then you are free to hold that opinion also.

i have also had nightmares the past several nights. i had recurring dreams before the Kobe earthquake, big CA earthquake a couple of years ago; usually natural disasters. strangely, when my area is not in danger, one of my families dogs travels silently (i just see them walking around) through the dream with me. in the dreams i've had the past several nights, both of my current dogs have stayed right next to me in the dream, growling and barking with their teeth bared at something in front of us. both dogs have been whining for several nights to come into my room to sleep, even thought the rottweiler usually sleeps downstairs on the couch (he's not supposed to get up and thinks i don't know :) ). my parakeet has been going insane in his cage after the lights are turned off. usually dark calms birds down, but he would sit quietly when the lights were on then explode flying around the cage as soon as the lights were turned off. i got up to check on him 3 times in the space of 5 minutes (look for any bugs or something in his cage), then just left a small light on for him.

-- sarah (qubr@aol.com), August 04, 1999.

My masters thesis that I completed for my masters degree in Psychology in July of 1998 is titled Psychic Dreams. This is the final paragraph of the thesis

The study strongly suggests that dreams in which the dreamer accurately views the future do occur and that when major events happen in the world, those events are foreseen by multiple people. The study also suggests that there is a preponderance of psychic material showing up in dreams and visions now which seem to be corroborating ancient and modern prophecies that the end of this millenium and the beginning of the next will be a time of great upheaval.

My research had shown that there were many people who had had dreams and presentiments relative to the Titanic. Some of them ignored their dreams, - but others acted on them such as "Colin MacDonald, a 34 year old marine engineer, might also have died on the Titanic. However, he had a strong feeling of bad things to come for the big new ship. Three times he refused to sign on as the Titanic's second engineer." His daughter later told an interviewer that he felt something was going to happen to the Titanic.

Another stunning and complete example of premonition by many people relative to a tragic event happened in 1966 in the Welch mining village of Aberfam. At 9:15 on October 21, 1966 a mountain of coal waste had avalanched and buried the school. More than 140 people, most of them children who had just assembled for classes, died. One of the children who died, nine-year old Eryl Mai Jones, had told her mother the day before that she had dreamed she had gone to school and there was no school there. Something black had come down all over it. In all there were shown to have been 36 dream premonitions and some 60 other premonitions or visions foretelling this disaster. (These were the ones that had been verified as having been related before the disaster)

Since I have dreamed the future most of my life, and those dreams have been specific and have come to pass, I have always been interested in dreams.

Dreams often times are warnings and can save our lives if we listen to them. Certainly some may be because of a scary movie we have watched or because we might have worked ourselves into a "tizzy" psychologically - but the dreams of so many are showing reason for concern now. My dreams have warned me to prepare and to prepare on many fronts - not just for Y2K.

Here's an interesting dream. From Deja.

-- lisa (lisa@work.now), August 04, 1999.

On 23 Sept an asteroid approx 1/4 mile across will enter earths atmosphere at a speed of 37 miles per second and slam in the Atlantic near the Azores creating a fireball, 50-100 miles in diameter with an internal temp of 100 million degrees. Everything within 500 miles will instantaneously ignite and the shock wave will swat from the sky any aircraft within 2000 miles. The most powerfull earthquake wave in recorded history will race in all directions at nearly 1000 miles per hour. Europe, NW Africa and the US East Coast will be devastated.Fires from broken gas mains will soon grow into firestorms, ala Dresden, in virtually every city in Europe and Eastern North America. One hour later in Europe and 4 hours later on the US East Coast, the first in a series of tsunamis will strike; a 300 ft tall wall of water devasting everything between the Atlantic Seaboard and the Appalachians. Florida will be passed over repeatedly, from the Atlantic to the Gulf Coast by a series of tsunamis which will scour it clean of all buildings and vegitation and leave it a huge mud flat.England, the low countries and the US East and Gulf Coasts will suffer similar fates. During the last such occurrence, 95 million years ago, a Boloid strike in Yucatan sent tidal waves up the Mississippi Valley as far as Cincinati. That Boloid, which finished the Dinosaurs, was several times larger then the one currently inbound. The tsunami will continue under the northern polar ice cap to emerge in the Pacific and devastate cities on the Pacific Rim some eight, ten or twelve hours later; (including Sydney). If you wish to survive this you'd better have a mountain range between you and the ocean. The boloid strike will send so much material into the atmosphere that temperatures will drop world wide, sunlight will be greatly reduced and crop yields will collapse, leading to famine on a world wide scale. This is the third secret of Fatima which Pope John XXII opened but refused to devulge in 1960. This was known at the very highest levels of the US government and intel agencies. In the sixties commenced a massive, secret program to build dozens of huge underground shelters and installations, mostly in the intermountain west. Other locations include Mt Weather Va, Ft Drum in upstate NY, Michigans upper peninsula and several locations in the Mojave Desert. This program was accelerated dramatically during the Reagan years, funded largely by the looting of the savings and loans; a way of imposing a tax on the people without their consent or even knowledge. All of these installations are located with a major mountain range between them and the ocean. These are well stocked with provisions for the political, economic ,and scientific elites, plus those worker bees selected for their skills and by lottery.Other locations stocked with provisions include the limestone caves of Missouri, near Kansas City, and the interiors of dams in the Pacific NW. Three years ago Hollywood was approached and encouraged to make movies with this theme."Deep Impact" and "Armaggeddon" were the results.During the filming of Armaggeddon, the producers were offered and given unprecedented access to NASA facilities at Cape Kennedy.

I've had several dreams/premonitions during my life. As anyone who studies the Bible knows, God often speaks in dreams, i.e., Daniel, Jacob, etc.

Last week I dreamed I was outside talking with a family member and I noticed in the sky off on the horizon, streaming lights like missiles. There were alot of them... almost like fireworks. I was not scared for they didn't seem close to harming us but I woke up wondering about this dream.

Craig, with all due respect, I think you may have misread Leo's post. Where does he advise anyone to do anything because of his dream? So what if he's "convinced disastrous things are imminent" to quote YOUR take on his post? He was describing his emotional response to a dream that he had. So what if that's his take on it. He's got a right,as far as I'm concerned. It was HIS dream. The only "unhealthy obsession" I observe is your willingness to judge others words and thoughts before policing your own.

-- Barb (awaltrip@telepath.com), August 04, 1999.

Dr Doom

One of my reasons for asking about your asteroid scenario is that I have had multiple dreams of a huge wave that sweeps inland - devastating everything in its path. I have had this dream many times since the early 70s. This is a common dream among those people who have had psychic dreams. Certainly an asteroid could be the cause of such a wave. I couldn't tell from my dream that that was the cause - but in the dream I didn't explore the cause - just saw the wave and how far it came.

Got an aquitence who works in a homless shelter in KC. Bout a year ago he got the biggest requst for day labor help he ever got.He took big crews and they spent days unloading boxcars full of MREs onto trucks which took them to the caves in Missori. they unloaded the MREs off the trucks into the caves. Said it was a govrnmnt job.sort of fits with dr doom.

-- Les (Ozarks@athome.com), August 04, 1999.

Barb, I think that through the magic of psychic intergalactic connectivity, we actually had the same dream simultaneously!!! Here is the way to interpret it: The guy chasing you was me, but I meant no harm. Once you understood, you willingly submitted on all fours. (Yes!) Now, the chimp, I am not so sure about. I think that Anita was also there, and that is her "monkey love" being expressed. At that point we both probably woke up with fear and trembling.

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.com), August 04, 1999.

Not Anita Livingston. The other one.

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.com), August 04, 1999.

Leo,

I've had dreams that came true later. Two specific instances come to mind...

The first was when my brother was in Kenya. I had a dream that something bad was happenning to him. I woke up and immediately started praying for him. It turned out that during the time I was praying (about 2 hours), he was in a building with mortars flying overhead. This was during a coup (sp?) attempt.

The second was before I joined the military. I had a recurring dream about being in a long building and a man walks up to me. He introduces himself as Sean. I had this dream at least 3 times before I even THOUGHT about going in the Army. A few months later, while I was training in Indiana, I met and dated a guy named Sean. By the way he did look just like the guy from my dream.

I have had several other recurring dreams that have come true, that I could recount, but I'll add just one more.

This one has occurred at least 3 times in the last 2 years. I am in a narrow hallway guarding a door with a machine pistol. My friends Stacy and Mark (at this point I don't know anyone named Stacy or Mark) along with some other people have gone down the hall for something (I don't have a clue what). Suddenly, I am under fire and shouting at my friends to hurry up. The firefight goes on for several minutes and becomes more intense. At this point I wake up.

The dream is always the same. I have more details at home which I wrote down after I had the dream the second time. There is a possibility that none of this will happen, but my record with recurring dreams is about 90% of them come true, in some form or another.

FYI

Had a terrible dream.. A crow kept shaking it's wing in my face and declaring "I never had sex with that robin!" And nearby, a parrot could be overheard saying "Avast!Avast!right wing conspiracy!" The crow, waving a cigar about, opines "wet birds never fly at night" For some reason I always awaken from this dream with an urge for pizza....Can anyone tell me what this means and is this a common Freudian dream?

Don't know where Leo went. But, I've seen him around the forum...he's no troll. I'm amazed that this has turned out to be an interesting thread with minimal flames and trolls. How in the world did that happen in a topic like this with so many infernos happening on TB2000 today?

"where (is@leo.where?)"

Didn't you read his post? He was going to do some SERIOUS shopping! :-) Leo has been posting on this forum periodically for a year now. He's not a troll. There is quite a time difference between the U.S. and Australia.

Hi Leo. OT for this thread but I also was wondering if you have been doing any writing - I'll never forget that wonderful short story! And did anything ever happen with that venture cap we talked about a while ago? Best regards, Rob.

I had a premonitory dream night before last. I saw a bunch of face cards from a deck of cards. The next morning I read Stan Faryna's "Do you believe in magic?" thread, saw the "mind reading" card trick, and recognized the face cards from the previous nights dream. Weird. But it happens. Lots of syncronicities in life if you're perceptive enough to notice them.

About two years ago, my wife had repeated dreams of one of our four cats being nearly killed. Shortly thereafter, the same cat got a clogged urethra and had to have a $1100 operation or be put to sleep. A month later he was hit by a car which smashed his jaw. We nursed him back to health and he's now fine.

My mother had an apparition of her Aunt appear on her bedside one night. She was awakened by the smell of the perfume the aunt always wore, which had the scent of almonds. The apparition smiled at her and as she reached out for it disappeared. Several days later she received a letter telling her that the aunt had died unexpectedly. The time of death was the same night as the apparition.

I have dreamed recently about martial law and asteroids striking Earth, but I attribute them to reading this forum. I hope.

RUOK

Actually, several threads along this line have popped up recently, and each gotten a surprising number of responses and relatively few flames considering what normally passes for discussion around here...

See a similar thread I started several days ago at

I have actually had several (4) prophetic dreams in the past. I can always tell when a dream is specifically prophetic, as it has an unusual sort of 'clarity', I always wake up immediately and fully after the dream, and I always know what it means.

For whatever reason, last night, before reading anything (ever) on this site, I asked the Lord to show me the future through a dream. Perhaps I should not make such a request, only trust, but I did make the request.

I had a somewhat horrifying dream. The entire earth was convulsing, as though it were a living organism having seizures. I was terrified at what was taking place, and felt that all of my preps were nearly worthless for what was occuring. The thought that 'came to mind' (in my dream) was "the things that will happen on the earth are so terrifying that men's hearts will fail them from fear" (people will die from the fear). This is a Biblical prophecy from the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ.

I say that the dream was only 'somewhat' horrifying because there was some sort of assurance that, through faith in God, things would turn out ok (though perhaps not on this earth).

This dream was not as clear as those I have had in the past. Dreams I have had in the past which fortold the future were never preceeded by such a request.

I don't know what to make of this. But, since it is my first time here at this site, and seeing/reading the thread, I feel as though I have an 'obligation' (?) to post this.

-- newposter (nomail@juno.com), August 05, 1999.

The Bible clearly predicts a major disaster that has a chilling similarity to all your precognative dreams - nonspecific cataclism - just the results:

Isa 24:1 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. Isa 24:3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word. Isa 24:4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. Isa 24:5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Isa 24:6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Written by Isaiah in about BC800, it has yet to be fulfilled, but I to am having a feeling that we are facing a wall of fire from which there will be no escaping. Maybe just a simple Y2k TEOTWAWKI; at least I hope that's all it is.

-- elskon (elskon@bigfoot.com), August 05, 1999.

Well, as I have shared with several folks in private emails, my "hunch button" is screaming at me to get my preps finished up yesterday, if not earlier.

No dreams, could be just too much worrying. But, I've always done better following that ignoring my hunches.

Did somebody fall asleep with the news on?

1,000 Asteroids May Threaten Earth

.c The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) - Up to 1,000 asteroids are large enough and close enough to pose a potential risk to Earth, but the chances of a collision are extremely remote, astronomers say.

Researchers attending a conference on asteroids and comets at Cornell University said Tuesday that new data suggests there are 500 to 1,000 nearby asteroids big enough to cause planet-wide damage if they collided with the Earth.

David Rabinowitz of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory said that there are probably 2,000 to 4,000 asteroids of about one-third of a mile in diameter that cross the orbital path of the Earth. These would be big enough to cause extensive regional damage if they hit the Earth, but probably would not have the planet-wide effects of the larger space rocks.

Asteroid impacts have scarred the Earth and moon for billions of years, but the impact of very large asteroids - the so-called planet killers - are extremely rare. The last major extinction, which killed off the dinosaurs, occurred 65 million years ago when an asteroid five to eight miles in diameter smashed the Earth.

Experts estimate that a mile-wide asteroid could possibly hit the Earth only about once every 100,000 to 1 million years.

But for right now, there are no known big asteroids heading for the Earth.

Paul Chodas of JPL said that through a worldwide effort, astronomers have now identified about 15 percent to 20 percent of the predicted number of asteroids dangerous to the Earth. He said the goal is to find at least 90 percent of the expected number.

Once an asteroid is found, astronomers can monitor its orbit, or path around the sun, and determine if it poses any risk to Earth.

Chodas said there currently are no looming threats from outer space.

comet lee is supposed to come closest to earth between mid-august and (i think) may of 2000. it's too new to positively i.d. the orbit. also, the cassini spacecraft is supposed to pass earth around 8/18 on it's way out; it carries about 74 lbs of plutonium. regarding lee's orbit: sorry; i didn't write down the link for cassini.

Okay, I now feel this subject has now become germaine to the discussion at hand. Anyone read "Mass Dreams of the Future" by Dr. Chet Snow?

Ever heard of past life regression? Well this is about future life progression.

He and another Doctor, Helen Wambaugh, did hypnotic progression in several groups of people and when using a time frame around the millenium up through 2100, found some rather startling information. Shortly after the turn of the century, about 90-93 percent of the subjects did not have lives during this time. Post 2100, the percentage started picking up. During 2000-2100, the subjects told of lives totally different from that of today. Many spoke of terrible things that had occurred on the planet and the lives they recounted spoke of the adjustments in how they lived.

Very interesting read, to get your mind off y2k, if for nothing else.

Getting the subject back to dreams. I've also had disturbing dreams about unusual natural changes on the surface of our earth. Very, very vivid, and exceptionally easy to remember. With all this premonition of something in the near future, I think now would be a very good time to become very quiet and calm inside and listen to that small wee voice that we need to listen too more and more.

A true story from gold-eagle...

This morning I got a call from a very distressed friend. He sounded very ill. He had had a bad dream-- more like a nightmare. In the dream, his pet bird suddenly flew up in the air and fell down dead. It was a very disturbing dream, not because the bird died, but because somehow, he told me, he understood that the bird represented his stock investments. He was worried and scared.

He had bought individual stocks almost at their tops, using a large chunk of capital borrowed against the equity in his home. At one time he had accumulated over $100k in profits. He was so happy then, big smiles, thumping his chest. He was going to be a millionaire! My wife began to needle me, and I seriously started to doubt the wisdom of my own investment strategy which did not include buying overvalued stocks on a collision course with the big bad grizzly. However, becaused my friend had swallowed the Wall Street "buy and hold" BS, he refused to take profits and was forced to watch all his gains evaporate.

Taking a big loss when the stocks plunged, he sold 1/2 his shares last week and has since been biting his nails watching them tank further. He is convinced that the bird represented the high-flying Nasdaq and other "hot" stocks, and that the A/D line and other things are announcing their imminent demise. He's going to cash out I think, for a major loss. He wanted to know where he should put what's left of his mangled capital. I suggested he look into PM stocks and shorting the market, but I think he's too spooked to trust the markets anymore.

How many other Americans are in a similar position? What is your next- door neighbor doing since he quit his day job? Has he been playing Russian Roulette (with a fully loaded gun) by day-trading the stock exchanges? Listen for loud arguments with the wife. I suspect that there are many tragedies in the making out there. Time to open a crisis hotline for .com losers.

My friend is a very sensitive individual who is used to having what generally turn out to be "visions". So he is really shook up. Of course, based on what the members of this forum understand about the markets, there are going to be a lot of dead or near-dying "birds" on Wall Street soon. And not just stocks, either, as we have seen from the recent Atlanta shootings. But rest easy, guys, My Indonesian friend is not armed, and you will not find a gentler person anywhere. He may put a hex on the Stock Market, though.

Too bad so much of his investment was made on borrowed capital and 50% margin. Yikes! That hurts!

-- Andy (2000EOD@prodigy.net), August 05, 1999.

Andy,

I heard a similar tale of woe from a woman whose husband managed to lose $70,000 in a margin account. She called in to a radio finance advice show to ask about borrowing against the house equity to pay the margin loan off. We can guess why it wasn't the husband on the line. Tip of the iceberg and it reinforces my sense of looming calamity for this land.
