Vigilante justice - post y2k? Would we see a return of the hanging rope? Lynching was still practiced in the south and west a hundred years ago. In Ft Smith, Ark. Hanging Judge Parker was in business and down Pecos, Tex. way Judge Roy Bean was also hard at work.

I remember a movie, The Ox-Bow Incident, (early 40's) in which vigilantes hung the wrong people. Would we see a return to the "old west" instant punishment if there was a break down in law and order?

I remember part of my boy scout work was learning to tie lots of practical knots. We had a board with about 20 different examples of the various knots. I don't think the hangman's knot was one of them.

Very dramatic.

How about for clothesline (yawn)?

clothesline....a GREAT use for rope...I was going to use duct tape for my clothes drying.
could rope be used to tie up sleeping women?

My use of rope will be limited to hanging myself if i could no longer deal with the stress.

I know it's a coward out but there aren't going to be strinks around to talk to after y2k.
