Hey doomsdayers -

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

no i don't really think you people are doomsdayers, just thought that subject line might get more responses that way. i'm writing a report for family and friends, and need another word for what the public call those who plan and prepare for y2k. gloom and doomer, etc...

by the way i'm making plans, and am hoping with this report, my family and friends will wake up and also prepare. i don't honestly believe most will, but all i can do is try.

so what would i be considered? doomsdayer, Y2Krazy...? thanks for all responses

ENDSNIP

Hey guess what Doomers, you just violated your own rule of not feeding the trolls!

And on top of that you actually call this one a "responsible citizen", "prudent preparer".

Man oh man, the hypocrisy around here is enough to reach up into heaven and strangle the angels with the stench of it.

Jane Doe,

How about "those preparing for an uncertain future"

De Jager said it awhile back....enemies of the people...

or,

panic-mongerers, millennial flakes, propaganda-deficient cancers on the Public's immune to reality system, those who refuse to see the wisdom of the crowd, those who refuse to be lemmings, anti-ostriches (although my son pointed out that ostriches are actually looking for water with their heads buried in the sand???),

How's about: THE SMART ONES, or RUGGED INDIVIDUALISTS, or THE COMING SURVIVORS, or INDEPENDENT THINKERS, or THE ONLY PEOPLE LEFT WHO ACTUALLY THINK FOR THEMSELVES AFTER GATHERING AS MUCH INFORMATION AS THEY CAN AND NOT PROPAGANDA SPOONFED BY THE GOVERNMENT OR ESTABLISHMENT MEDIA, or FOLKS WHO KNOW THE S**T HAS TO HIT THE FAN SOON AND DON'T WANT TO GET HIT BY THE SPRAY, or THE ONES WHO DON'T THINK Y2K WILL BE A PROBLEM FOR ANYONE EXCEPT FOR THOSE WHO LIKE TO EAT, or THOSE WHO ARE WAITING FOR MOTHER NATURE AND TECHNOLOGY TO THIN THE HERD THRU NATURAL SELECTION, you catch my drift by NOW , right !!!! GOOD LUCK.

p.s. ....or THOSE WHO AREN'T WAITING FOR BILLY GATES TO FIX THE PROBLEM.....

am trying to make the point in my report that i don't care what you think of me ( be it panic-mongerer, skeptic, millinnial flake, doomsdayer, etc...). i already know that is how i am labeled. i would read a "hey doomsdayer" headline, and know someone was referring to someone like me, because that's how they see me. but i'm not predicting doom. i'm not predicting anything. i am, however, asking lots of questions in order to make one THINK. and hence, i have been labled. can anyone agree with this?
