Noticed a lot of "off the wall" topics/questions on this forum this evening. Might as well add mine to the mix...

It's been said that if everyone picked-up their phones at the same time (12:01 a.m. on new years morning in order to check for dial-tone), the phone system would not work. If the same held true for the entire US electric power grid and Gary North knew his light switch would be the "straw that broke the camel's back", do you think he'd toss it? Not sure? Let's include a scenerio in which this failing of the grid would also somehow "guarantee" the simultaneous collapse of the government and the banking system. On top of that, nobody would ever suspect, let alone find out, that he had this option at his disposal. Now do you think he'd toss it? How 'bout Paul Milne. Do you think he would?

Note: These questions are only directed to those who are already aware of the backgrounds and/or "message promoting" histories behind North or Milne.

CD,

I'd bet my paycheck Milne and North would, I wouldn't....

Sorry.. can't play this game. I am well aware of the messages of both Milne and North. I am able to separate the "agenda" from the news and find both people to be valuable sources of information. Neither holds any threat for me (though your post seems to imply there IS a threat to society from both men).

However I do feel there is a serious threat from managers and CEO's who put the bottom line over the need to fix Y2K programming, until it was too late to do the job right. There IS a threat to society from reporters and all forms of media who have managed to turn off the masses to the risk they face from Y2K.. which they did by employing ridicule. The - knowing it was false - called Y2K a hoax and hype, and have thus kept millions and millions of people from taking steps which could have minimized any disruptions to our J.I.T. way of life. If I had a choice between betting that Milne/North would flip that switch and those in power who have chosen to keep the truth from us.. I would bet that the PTB would MUCH sooner flip the switch. Milne/North have done everything in their power to urge people to prepare for hard times.. a wise policy no matter WHAT happens with Y2K. Those who have advised AGAINST preparation are the real villins. .. and if they lights DO go out, it will be their "folly" that has flipped the switch and increased the destruction.. not Milne and North.

Neither Milne nor North would flip that switch. You don't understand them at all. They do not have black hearts. If they did they wouldn't spend so much time and effort researching and presenting facts and articles to WARN the sheeple so chances of survival INCREASE.

In answer to R. wright:

You would win your bet.

I must say thought that my political views and Y2K are SEPARATE. Indded I think our present government is a pernicious tyranny and needs to be completely dismantled. But, that does NOT **necessarily** mean that Y2K will do it. The EVIDENCE leads me to believe that it may be sufficient to do it. And I hope that it does.

If I could flip the ONLY switch that would make it happen, I would. Do I want to see people harmed? Absolutely not. Do I want to see the tyranny continue? Absolutely not. Do I think it is best that the tyranny continue so that people are not harmed? Absolutely NOT.

Thw WORST thing that could happen would be to allow the present government to continue. Did the Colonists refuse to fight against King George III because people would get harmed? Absolutely not. They KNEW that to end a tyrannical government people will get harmed and it was still the BEST thing to do.

Only morons would then accuse them of "wanting" to see people harmed.

Our present government is a bastardization of the Constitution. It is criminal in nature. It is a systematic violation of our God given rights. Just about any sacrifice is worth getting rid of it and moving BACK to a Constitutional republic with extremely limited Federal government powers. Even if it means the decimation of the population. If the population is 'content' to live under this tyranny, then they deserve to be wiped out as a result of Y2K. They do not deserve to call themselves 'Americans' because they have not the first clue what an 'American' is. The entire purpose of the Constitution was to SEVERLY limit the Federal government's authority in our lives. It was the WHOLE purpose of the Revolution. The Constitution was drawn up to specifically enumerate that which the Federal government could do and not do. it has WILDLY overstepped its bounds and usurped every manner of illicit authority. And now, the Federal Government insinuates itself into every facet of our lives. It is a tyranny.

If Y2K can do it, I would throw the switch in a New York second.

There you have it, Milne, a man with an agenda.

Hey Milne, you want to try answering some REAL questions now?

Well.. I was WRONG about Paul flipping the switch, but I stand by my statement that the threat doesn't lie there (or with Gary North). I am not as strong in my feelings as Paul, but I do not disagree with them, and as I said, I can see the agenda and separate it from the info he and North provides.

Of course I can see the agenda of the major media in hiding the truth also.. but it is often much more difficult to separate the agenda from the news in that case.

In answer to $@(.S

There you have it, Milne, a man with an agenda.

-- ($@(.S), August 01, 1999.

Here is the FIRST thing that I wrote...

"I must say thought that my political views and Y2K are SEPARATE. Indded I think our present government is a pernicious tyranny and needs to be completely dismantled. But, that does NOT **necessarily** mean that Y2K will do it. The EVIDENCE leads me to believe that it may be sufficient to do it."

Apparently reading comprehension is your short suit. Secifically, I stated that my thoughts about Y2K and my political thoughts are separate. This, you ignored completely. It is the way of all Pollyannas to ignore virtually everything. It is the hallmark of their thought processes.

Once again, for the ignorami. I think that the evidence is clear that Y2K will be severe enough to do great damage to the Federal Governemnt. It makes no difference if I like the present government or I do not like the present government.

The fact is that I think the present government is a total perversion. And, at the same time I believe that the consequences of Y2K may very well decapitate Washington DC. I think this is a very good thing.

Submoronic imbeciles like $@(.S think that because I would be happy to see the Federal Governemnt dismantled, I merely 'hope' that Y2K will have enough strength to do it. This is incorrect.

The evidence is plain. The consequences of Y2K will, independently of my desires, have the ability to dismantle The Federal government. And to this is I say, "Thank God."

-- Paul milne (fedinfo@halifax.com), August 02, 1999.

I lost my bet. I did not think Paul's feelings about the Federal Government were so strong that he would actually let himself flip that switch. No matter how I detested the goobermint my conscience would not let me precipitate the failing of the grid and the simultaneous collapse of the government and the banking system. The reactions of violence wouldn't let me decide that fate. Fortunately neither Paul nor myself have that power or have our finger on that ultimate switch.

-- switch + bait too shallow (to@really.understand), August 02, 1999.

You're right. Clinton had his finger on the switch and lo and behold he flipped it whilst getting a bj from Moanica - talk about being asleep at the wheel.

-- Andy (2000EOD@prodigy.net), August 02, 1999.

Linda- You wrote: "Of course I can see the agenda of the major media in hiding the truth also.."

Can you not also see the possibility of an agenda which would benefit from an "exaggeration" of the truth?

-- CD (not@here.com), August 02, 1999.

And CD - what would that be prey???

-- Andy (2000EOD@prodigy.net), August 02, 1999.

For the uninformed:

How could anyone in there "right mind" want to see the Federal Government fall? For one thing we got some serious waste going on here. Currently the Feds have an incredible list of job openings. Take a look at this site. Add all the salaries up. Ahhh what a neat switch that would be....

I chime in my support - Milne is right. What exactly are we trying so hard to save anyway?

-- Tim Castleman (aztc@earthlink.net), August 02, 1999.

Well, I for one would love it if the lights went out in my neighborhood at midnight. I have tried to warn friends and co workers and have become the laffing stock of the office. I would just LOVE to see the lights go off, just long enuff to make them really sweat, but not enuff to hurt anyone. Wonder how long that would be in time before they started lining up at my pump for water?

-- Hannah (Hannah@Colonial America.com), August 02, 1999.

I'd like to see complete failure of the grid and phones for 48 hours. Long enough for people to understand how fragile their existence is, but short enough for nobody to die. Hospitals have fuel for that long, so sick folks could be cared for.

JUST long enough..... Preparation ofor unforseen events is a GOOD thing. We should ALL do it, ALL the time. Someday we may REALLY NEED IT.... (5 months from now? Hmmmm. We'll sure find out, won't we?)

-- Dennis (djolson@pressenter.com), August 02, 1999.

Unfortunately- due to the current levels of overpopulation, overconsumption of resources-water, fish, fuel, etc, and the whole slide into a shallow consumer oriented culture that the world is currently engaging in, I don't see anything short of a major world altering catastrophe to enact change. This of course, would create great loss and deprivation- and untold human lives lost. It's not a pretty thought. I don't see a 48 hr loss of power as enough to cause serious change.

Would I want to see this happen? Yes and no.

Milne Airlines flight D00M2000, boarding, an airport somewhere near bug-outville.

Captains voice over tannoy . . .

Ladies and Gentlemen, you may have read in the official policy statement on your boarding card that Milne Airlines are fundamentally and idealogically in favour of the destruction of all modern systems including FIAT banking, computers, democratic government, and of course the air transport industry as a whole, (all of the above without regard to safety or the sanctity of human life . . after all, the damn sheeple deserve whatever they get right ?) . .

. . but please dont let that worry you, as we consider todays journey COMPLETELY SEPARATE from that stated goal. . . so dont let's . . . .

. . Hey . . where are you all going ??? Sit down dammit, we have to take off in a minute . . HEY !!! COME BACK !!!

{to co-pilot N Gorth) . . "Oh well buddy, looks like it's just the two of us again . . chocks away !!!"

Free ticket anyone ?

I pity the folks that pray for a failure.

Are you that much of a loser that you need some 'hoped for' catastrophe to bail your sorry asses out?? How do you get tyranny out of our government?? This is absolute pure bullshit! Are you allowed to do whatever you want, whenever you want, as long as you don't fuck with anyobdy?? I think so. Sure as hell doesn't sound like tyranny to me.

Get off you sorry asses, make something of yourselves and stop whining like little babies about how BAD you THINK everything is.

Ain't no government perfect, ours will never be, but it's the best thing going on planet Earth.

I've said it before and I'll say it again and again.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT - LEAVE!!! We're not holding you prisoner.

Unbelievable thread here!! Very impressive........

Deano - who is damn proud and lucky to be an AMERICAN!
