Explosion at hazmat storage site
MARYLAND CITY, Md., July 31 (UPI) - A trailer holding hazardous chemical waste exploded into flames (early Saturday), closing area roads in Anne Arundel County, Md., and bringing Hazardous Materials emergency teams to the site. "Around 9:30 this morning (EDT), there was a huge explosion over there," area resident Ronnie Ross told United Press International. "They've evacuated the area and closed the roads." Firefighters on the scene say no injuries have been reported.

Is there a connection to y2k at Bellingham?Your Pal, Ray
-- Ray (ray@totacc.com), July 31, 1999.
Ray.......You ask is there a Y2K connection to the terrible tragedy at the Olympic Bellingham facility. Although I have been a GI for a long, long time my answer would be 'probrably not'. Computer malfuntions are a daily occurance and do not automatically qualify as a Y2K connected event. However, I will agree that the by-products of these failures give us a preview of what may come to pass.

For, thank you "For' your answer, unfortunately I cannot be as concise as you. My answer is, I do not know !!Fortunately, we have some folks that are keeping track of the stats on these explosions and eventually this may be a story in and of itself.

This story was on the front page of todays Wash Times. It was hazmats stored in 55 gal. drums/inside trailers and the heat and humidity caused the problem. In light of all the others, it does make you wonder.
