Semi Homemade Oleo

For those of you (and me) who are concerned about having butter, oleo, or a good substitute without going to the bother of canning or freezing, try this.

Take Butter Flavored Crisco, add butter flavored popcorn salt (I used Pops-Rite) to taste, mix well and enjoy. It is really not bad. Certainly no worse than some of the commercial low cost oleos. I used the popcorn salt because it is very fine; almost a powder, and it contributes a little more butter flavor to the end product.

While regular Crisco has an indefinite shelf life (unopened), the butter flavored variety does not; it's 15 months if memory serves me right.

I know that the partially hydrogenated fats are bad for you, but lighten up, after it's all over you can go back to your normal lifestyle and eating habits. This is just to make life a little more bearable till then.
