Check and see if the dat file is in the segment folder. The dat file must be in the mpegav folder to be able to be played on a stand alone player.

Are you sure you have used the Video CD Creator program and not just created a CD-ROM with Eeasy CD Creator with a mpg file on?

The above 2 answers are sound i.e.:

a) your .dat file must exist in the "Mpegav" folder before a stand- alone VCD player is able to play it properly. There must be at least 2 burned tracks on you CD-R.

b) your .dat file can be played on a PC from hard drive or CD-ROM drive, but not on a stand-alone VCD player if it is not burned in the correct VCD Ver2.0 format. You need to use Adaptec VideoCD Creator to make VCD successfully.

One other cause could be that most DVD/VCD players are unable to play CD-R discs. It has been mentioned that DVD/VCD players with dual laser lenses may play CD-R burned type VCDs.

Try burning to CD-RW instead of CD-R. Video CD on CD-RWs work in my Panasonic DVD-A350EB but CD-Rs don't.

I created many VCDs which play perfectly on my discotheque PIONEER (cant remember the model now) DVD player. Then I burned for a friend with a Panasonic and other with other PIONEER DVD and them could not play the VCDs at all. The device doesn´t recognize the CD. Check your model device. Is any regional restriction? I am using Nero burner tool. Is any aditional option for DVD? Is any problem with some CDr discs? Please, Inform me and together can find the way out to this! cheerS!

TO ALL! THE FIRST QUESTION IS NOT IF YOUR PLAYER WILL PLAY VCD
BUT WILL IT PLAY CDR OR CDRW
