MEDIA IRRESPONSIBILITY - NEED SOME LINKS PLEASE

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

On a "local" BBS, a question was just asked as to "why would the media ignore or mis-report Y2K, when the public backlash later would be so bad, and when they are so 'thorough' on ALL other topics?"

I'd like some links to essays and articles on the "journalistic irresponsibility" on Y2K, if I may. I know you guys have LOTS more info than *I* do.

Help, please?

Also, see outstanding article from y2knewswire on the Gary North News Network (GNNN) titled "Y2K Bad News Stories Being Spiked!" posted today (7/26).

Fast and Loose: Y2K Coverage in the Media

BTW, I wrote to the executive editor (Larry King) of the Omaha World- Herald. He said that the story was changed because a reporter following up on the original story talked to someone at state patrol who denied it was Y2K related. King also said that a follow-up story on July 9 did attribute the computer snafu to a Y2K compliance upgrade.

In reply, I told him that the only state-patrol story on July 9 that I could find did not mention Y2K. And I asked him to verify that he had written the "acronym" excuse to Helium (which had been posted here, as you may recall). But, King has not replied....
