Director of Y2K research at Gartner Group: "Shucks, doing nothing is probably a good bet"

Atta boy Jim. What a way to encourage those amotivated folks to get their butt in gear and prepare:

Jim Duggan, Y2K research director for the Gartner Group, a Connecticut consultant, had a different take.

"People should be prepared for something mild, but that doesn't sell books," he said. "We get a lot of stupid e-mails accusing us of being part of a global conspiracy.

"Shucks, doing nothing is probably a good bet."

I guess Gartner's y2k research director just doesn't Get It. Imagine that. And he may have more hard data than anyone else on Earth. What could possibly explain such an attitude? Do you suppose he could possibly understand the issue?
