A dope accusses us of growing dope? Maybe of "growing DOPES" if you consider what we do here is the mental fertilizer for the rabid pollys like himself and the rest of the Der Bonkerz gang.

Well this is kind of funny :o) In BC here, we have a billion dollar industry growing pot. Its already happening. And the biggest consern is the risk of fires because of the sloppy wiring jobs that folks use to beat the electrical company.

All in all a big yawn here.

PS I have never grown pot or plan on it.

This is outrageous! I can't believe that this is the same Paul Davis who used to post here last year. His need to have Y2K be a non-event appears to be interfering with his ability to think rationally....

Omigod - not that Devil Weed.

I happen to live in the pot growing capitol of the world. Well at least America and I can tell you that people buy/rent land with the express intent of growing pot all the time.

I sure hope people are planning to grow weed during Y2k and lots of it. Particularly if 80% of all raw pharmaceutical materials won't be available. Marijuana is a very potent medicinal herb and stress reliever. However it doesn't have the alarming tendency that liquor does of inciting violence.

Gimme a slightly paranoid stoner over a violent drunk any day.

Move over, "Ken the Cockroach"! Here comes "Davis the Dope"!!!

Man, if this is what the pollys are deteriorating to in mid-Summer, I can hardly wait for Fall!

-- King of Spain (madrid@aol.com), July 24, 1999.

Lets see Paul, a quick check...we'll run the trains off peanut oil...chance of TEOTWAWKI the same as spontaneous collapse Universe...yep! You've outdone yourself!

Desperate times call for desperate 'theories'. I suppose next, he'll turn thoughtful and wish to participate with honor, giving us all the intelligent guidance we so sorely lack. Hmmmmmm

Some of these folks have bought stuff they don't intend to be paying for post Y2K. More will wind up on welfare. A few are planning on raising 'illegal' crops and paying for their property that way, while the cops are busy with Y2K. It will get nasty.

It will get nasty... hmmm, that tone, where have I heard it before... yeah ! sounds like 'doomer' language - it's gonna be bad, the cops won't be able to help. Hey sounds like "The Trigger Effect" !! Welcome aboard Paul D(oomer)!

I feel kind of proud that I was teasing and insulting and laughing at Paul Davis back when many here were still his buddy and paid attention to him. Nowadays it just seems superfluous to point out the flaws of his "reasoning". Honesty insists that I point out that....this idea of "wackodooomers growing pot to fund their post-y2k lifestyle" is not purely that insane contrivance of a desperate derayn-jed debunker, it was actually something that a particularly naive and impressionable poster mentioned, in passing, maybe 5 or 6 months ago. I'm sure that that poster had the good sense to never take such an action, especially after idly discussing it on a monitored forum. I'm sure that he/she meant it in the same, "what-if", fantasizing spirit in which others sometime mention the possibility of politicians, programmers and managers being "strung-up" after this unfortunate y2k situation has played its course.

I myself sincerely believe that the cultivation of this evil weed ought to be left strictly to the professionals, (and I'm not talkin' Bodie and Doyle.) Reefer Madness is no laughing matter kids - just say no.

Pot is already the biggest cash crop in this country. <:)=

-- Sysman (y2kboard@yahoo.com), July 25, 1999.

Bunking, bunkering, and debunking.

If I grow weed it'll be because it was a required crop before the invention of plastics. My local head-shop has a sign in it that says 'Grow hemp for the War!' in reference to WWI when they used hemp to make ship-ropes for Battleships. You can make clothes out of it (If it's too cold to grow cotton.). And of course it will relieve a headache without making you want to hit a polly like a few shots of Wild Turkey will. And Wild Turkey will GIVE you a headache you may want the weed to relieve. Heh. What are the Non-Doomers afraid of? What are they so mad about? A few people buying food and survival gear? This is just reasonable stuff to have. Selling drugs to get it IS pretty extreme. But as the pollys prove, there are many extremists on both sides of the Y2K debate. Don't gimme any crap about wether or not it's a DEBATE at all. Opposing sides infers debate. So pollys, bring it on. What's wrong with buying food and survival gear?

Granted, inciting a riot is not right. crying wolf and making everybody think the NWO is gonna take over is extreme. Any level-headed forum-wanderer will choose for themselves and hopefully choose more sources than just forums to get their information. Like maybe ABC? Or USAToday? Or the Sierra Club. How about National Republican Primer? Or the tome of wisdom 'Clinton gets blown and gets away with it.' (published by any national network)(during the time they could have been covering better stories since everybody knew once he confessed he'd get away with it.)

This one too.

Oh and for the "budding doomers"

In Canada it is now legal to use and grow pot for medicinal use if one has a Doctors consent.

Geez I am going to be in a country of doomers with back aches and crops in the back 40.

This is getting way OT. Where is that beer thread :o)

-- Brian (imager@home.com), July 25, 1999.

And another thing.... I would venture to say my past involvement in the drugworld led me to a more political frame of mind. I'm not all pro-drug, but I'm sure not anti-drug; pharma- or terra- type drugs. I met some very political people in that arena. People that showed me that the US is full of cows and Sheople. Bored and distracted or political and jaded. Hmmmph. Land of oppurtunity indeed.

-- Draco42 (HAL@noway.dave), July 25, 1999.

Sorry we were late getting to this. We had to spend all day at a convenient clearing in the woods, tending those cash crops we're growing out of sight of the Sheriff and his boys. We'll give more thought to it after we're done getting our credit limit raised and checking on how to qualify for welfare.

-- OutingsR (us@here.yar), July 25, 1999.

"it will get nasty" because people are growing a plant?obviously a victim of drug war propaganda.

-- zoobie (zoobiezoob@yahoo.com), July 25, 1999.

Maybe the DEA could bust those evil doper's, and then go to the bar with all their crusader compadre's and gat HAMMERED on gin.

If you support the drug "war" your either a hypocrite or a fool!

Outlaw all drugs(that means you joe six pack)or get the fu** outta here, with your selective moralisim/legalisim.

Sorry, hadda rant.

Dammit! Why didn't I think of that sooner? Thanks for the great idea, Paul.

I like pot! I just happened to be smoking a little when I discovered this thread. Gave me quite a chuckle! Hang on, let me take another toke...

Ahhh, that's nice!

Hey gang, this thread is fun! See ya on the otherside, and please -- stay safe, be kind to yourselves and others...

Talk about a wet meme conspiracy theory!

I'd say "hypothesis", but it doesn't ryhme as well.

-- Tim (pixmo@pixelquest.com), July 25, 1999.

Paul:

If any pot growers are serious about maintaining their crops, I don't see this happening indoors without a constant supply of electricity for the halide lamps and hydroponic irrigation systems. Conspicuous consumption of electricity and water in times of scarcity would alert the authorities, and confiscation would result.

For those tending crops outside, whether by ponds or streams, I imagine they will be visited frequently because of the water nearby which people need to survive. And there will be more hunters with guns...

Got cottonmouth?

In my region there is not one waterway that has not already been staked-out by 'farmers', and many meth lab entrepreneurs. Those that think they'll bug-out to the wilderness face some grisly suprises.

I remember the stories from the Angeles National Forest, about the defenses employed there by the 'farmers'. These were fellas well trained in Nam, putting jungle wafare tactics into practical stateside use.

Okay, we won't.
