From Dow's 5-11-99 10-Q:

"The Company's assessment of critical suppliers is ongoing, and risk management actions and contingency plans are being developed, as necessary. Approximately 75 percent of critical suppliers had been assessed at March 31, 1999, and work is ongoing with a number of critical suppliers, primarily in Asia Pacific, Latin America and Eastern Europe, who have indicated that they may not be Y2K compliant before the year 2000."

And this:

"The Company's risk assessment data plus recent external studies indicate that electric power may be a significant external source of risk."

Puddintame, please follow up on these...

Exxon's and Dow Chemical's current disclosures resemble pretty much what Chevron revealed way back in January. This could develop into an (orchestrated? noooo...) pattern for the chemical and oil & gas industry involving "serious risks and uncertainties" (Chevron line).

Robert (Cook), your input would be welcome and valuable. Whatever happened to RC?? Or was it CD??

George, the information I cited is not current in the way that you and I would like to see it because it involves an SEC filing from May which concerned information which may have been gathered before the end of March, BUT, the information appears to me to involve forward- looking studies which were designed to account for continued progress by the suppliers and electricity generators.

Another slew of SEC filings should be due by mid-August. Teh electronically filed reports are available free on the SEC's EDGAR site.
