Y2K Retailer Suit

I bought a Compaq Presario in July of 1997. I explicitly asked if it were compliant and was assured that it was. It is NOT! At the time I bought Staples 3 year extended warrenty which takes me well into 2000. Is Staples going to pay to have my computer remediated? I think I will give them a call.

Taz...who loves her 'puter.

So what's the cut-off? Computers, embedds, telephone control systems etc that are one year old and newer? Heck this problem as all of us know is decades old. No wonder lawyers have stopped the ambulance chasing and are honing their computer knowledge.

Taz -

I too have a Presario and like it. Got it in Sept. 1998 just before I really got seriously concerned about Y2K. Guess what, in February when I tried the little test of forwarding the clock and letting it roll over, it rolled over and died. Had to take it in and have it totally reformatted (free except for the hassle of getting it there). It supposedly is now "fixed" and should roll over OK (held my breath for that whole minute+ when I checked it!). Thank goodness it was still under warranty. By the way, got mine from Office Depot.
