Critique Invitation

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo: Creativity, Etc. : One Thread

I've just created a new web site to display my photographs. I invite anyone whose interested to visit the site and critique it.

My photographs tend to have a surreal dream-like quality to them. Using mainly still-life objects, I incorporate visual illusions into the images, creating scenes quite removed from reality.

You can view my web site at http://www.nzmagic.com (Just click on the photography link).

I'm not usually much of a fan of combined images or montages but yours are quite unique and beautiful. I especially enjoyed Gallery2 and in particular 'Take me to your clothesline' and 'Windswept'. Excellent work, you must be very happy with your results. My only criticism is that the images are too small and I would sacrifice much of the white border to get the images larger. Otherwise I was impressed.

I think the awards listed in your profile say it all.

Very nice work. I particularly enjoyed "eleventh hour" and "windswept". I am impressed that this is pure photography although I have nothing against the digital process.

dear author, I ask myself why your image of eagle was a month image? I thought it is special for selebretation of independance likes bear. I feel your site is very official and orientiered to national holly of some countries. What do you think to prepeare something for Russia? Bye, Rena

I enjoyed your work in Gallery 2. And would have to agree that your images are much too small. You're presenting a thumbnail where you should be presenting an image closer to full screen.

Very nice photos, My only quibble is that there could be a bit more space between the images on the scroll left to right. Also the background was occasionally a bit distracting. On the whole though, it was definitely an interesting read, I especially liked the technique links. Very nice. Commendations all round. On a specific note on the photos, I feel I liked the Second Galery better than the first. I was very strongly reminded of Escher Sketches with some of the Hands and glass ball shots- was this the intent? I think E.A. Poe would quite enjoy the Juxtaposition of the second gallery with his writing. Well done.

No, no! Gallery 1 is better. Especially 'Hands in motion 2 and 4'. Gallery 2 is for me a bit of the beaten path from the sixties (covers of LP pop-records) at the start and the boats are too simple for me. Gallery 1 is more timeless and their fascination lasts longer because of the content and the lighting. Very good work as a whole though and as an internet-site very good too.
