I'm just not able to resist the temptation to post this in this forum. I'm sure it is a complete coincidence that they plan to be closed December 6, 1999 - January 3, 2000. But now I find myself curious about other possible announcements of institutions/businesses closing over this holiday period for "renovations" or whatever reason. The American Philosophical Society Library Reading Rooms will be closed to researchers from December 6, 1999 through to January 3, 2000 for renovations. The Library staff will be available during this time to answer research inquiries and reproduction requests either by phone, mail, or e-mail. The lobby exhibit area will also remain open to the public. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact the Library. The Library's web page is http://www.amphilsoc.org.

Your intentions are honorable, but a word of extreme caution.

You are putting a bull's eye on yourself as someone who has had the foresight to prepare. 99%+ have done nothingbut procrastinate or deny. They will count on your "humanity" in their eyes. YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM. I suspect what you have they'll regard as theirs and so they will try to take by whatever means possible. Don't think they won't. Crime is high now.... Think it out carefully. Your heart is in the right place, but use your head also. This is were we are because of the cover-ups and misguided agendas of business and government.

Thank you for your concern, but each must walk the path they find in front of them, and I am very comfortable with where I am at. I tried very hard to depart into the wilderness (literally, I do have a little place in the desert close to the Arizona border in southern Utah), but this is the place God would have me be. Most of my life I have lived in what many would call the "bad" parts of town, and I have done a lot of work with the homeless, so i have no major illusions about what goes on even in the best of times. I've already heard one young up and coming hoodlum refer to y2k as "time 2 loot", or T2L. The worse that things get, the more important the job I and others are trying to do. . . but I have read my Lucifer's Hammer, and Alas Babylon, and even The Coming Age of Darkness that Gary North recommends. I believe in backing up the backup plans.
