Bennett will have "a little more than two weeks" in Y2K Forecast Article.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I'm not sure whether than means 2 1/2 weeks, three weeks, a month, who knows.

Oh, and before you slimy trolls start popping off, 3 weeks' goods / 20 weeks (remaining production time) = 15%. That is, in order for every household to amass 3 weeks' extra stuff before the end of the year, production would have to ramp up 15% starting today.

If they wait until October 15 to buy 3 weeks' stuff, in order to provide those goods, manufacturing would have to, starting Oct 1, ramp up production by 25%.

Does the capital exist, in general, to produce 25% more on short notice?

Lisa,

Excellent post. My compliments to you and your contributions. The ramp up percentages make the picture chillingly clear. Looks like good old Bennett is not heeding the 3 day snowstorm line. Do you think this statement by him breaking ranks will get noticed?

Kind of puts the food supply line issue in perspective doesn't it?

Good post Lisa...

Of course he's following the 3 day rule....He's just using the same "math" they use to do their budget's.

The text is from the CBN Y2K Broadcast. Bennett actually mentions rioting if the welfare checks aren't ready. It would be interesting to know the timing of the interview. He would be more worried today after the latest Senate hearnings on States and Cities.

Bennett said this a few weeks ago also: that he was stocking 2 weeks worth. The head of my church's non-existent Y2K Committee threw that at me, saying that this was all anyone needed to do. My reply? "I have several Mormon friends, and I know that to be elected to represent Utah, one would have to be a very good, seriously practicing Mormon. That would mean that Sen. Bennett should have at all times a one year's supply of everything necessary for survival. If he is adding two weeks'worth, then you should be stocking for 54 weeks!"

I'm confused....On Gary Norths site today, Bennett seemed to be saying 'no big deal.?????

citizen: all the Y2K "leaders" flop around like beached perch.

I think Bennett tries to be as honest with the populace as he can... relative to other leaders, anyway.
