Policy Changes for the Prep Forum

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

First, a word of thanks to you all. I have been personally encouraged and helped by the breadth AND the depth of your contributions. This forum is a living encyclopedia of YOUR knowledge and already is a treasure to many.

Please note that a few changes have been made to the policy guidelines for both threads and posts:

Threads discussing what content should be posted to this forum will be deleted.

It is not our intention to make this forum a platform for discussing what is acceptable or not. OTOH, please email me (Chuck Drvr will also assist) at y2krecover@yahoo.com about content questions.

Explicitly religious threads or posts will be deleted if deemed irrelevant to preps.

I am a serious non-denominational, ordained, evangelical Christian who has founded several churches and who travels, as occasion calls, to preach the gospel. Nonetheless, we have decided that THIS forum is not the appropriate place for explicit content about Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism or New Age religious beliefs and practices. That said, there are times, especially WITHIN a thread, when the expression of someone's personal faith or convictions is relevant.

Therefore, rather than proscribe all such communication, we will only say that we will exercise our judgment about which threads/posts should remain and which should be deleted. Undoubtedly, you may disagree when we do make a deletion, perhaps strongly. We can only ask that you understand our dilemma and the challenge of making this call in sometimes delicate situations. Please do not post a new thread or challenge a deletion publicly -- or we will be compelled to delete that as well. Again, email us instead and we will try to explain our reasoning.

Multimedia clips are welcome providing they are relevant to preps. Otherwise, they may be deleted.

Video and audio clips are welcomed by some and loathed by others. After much thought, we have decided that they do constitute a form of valid speech. However, like any speech on this forum, they must be relevant to the theme: Y2K preparation. Once again, you will need to trust and accept our judgments about their inclusion or deletion.

-------

I don't in any way want to give the impression that we are constantly deleting material. Quite the contrary is true. There have been very few deletions required and we hope that will remain the case.

As we draw closer to Y2K rollover, your contributions will be even more important. I am convinced that they will be more important STILL after rollover.

See you on other threads!

Sweetie's disconnected the music thingie for me, but my old computer has a hard time with the clips anyway. Err on the wild side of caution with your deletion decisions! Otherwise, the changes sound very reasonable to me. Love this "troll-free zone" and wish the regular forum would follow the example.

Keep the signal level UP, UP, UP.

Glad to hear that well will not hear the clips.

Thanks again for a time consuming and mostly thankless job.

While some of us has cable :o) the audio - video embeddeds would be a bandwidth hog eh?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks BD! Love this new forum. Hopefully, when my son gets home from summer school, he can teach me how to join in the chats.

What'cha mean "tail waggin'... Dog?"

I LOVE to see what BigDog and Chuck are moderating over here! Wish I had more time to play 'n post here too.

Any large group of regular TBY2K posters has the power to say...

"Yes... pointing to the prep forum... that's how we want it to be."

Diane

(Now where was that recent article on local preps...)

Diane,

Have you ever held a bit of food in front of a dog, while making him sit, and talk to him? "Tail waggin'" is what the dog is doing. I don't do tail waggin' very often, but the BIG one posted a good one...

scratchin' at the door....
