Woman Gets one-cent support check

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Found this July 16 in the Ownesboro Messenger Inquirer. It is from the A.P.

Covington, Ky. A woman wainting for a $600. child support check did receive one but not for the amount of money she expected. The check, made out for exactly one cent, was apparently the result of a computer glitch, said Cary Willis , a spokesman for the state Cabinet for Families and Children.

The article went on to tell why the glitch happened to this new system.

But they've got that national database now, to make sure the "other" parent pays up. Well, I guess the gov't will just KEEP the cash now....

You don't suppose the "old man" sent the check as intended? Maybe he he's a new wrinkle (or pimple) on the butt of Y2K! ERRrrrrhh!

"We're sorry, butt, you'll be getting your check for the corrected amount in about two weeks, (maybe)" [in the meanwhile, we're using the money to buy up gold on the world market, so we can cover alllll these checks next month, because our interest payment on the national debt was due this month! And *our* creditors won't take no for an answer!]

"If your're in need of survival rations before then, please go to anyone on this doomer list, as they have EXTRA! If they will not help, please call your local "THUG" forum and report the unresponsive parties to them." On the count of three, you will awaken, you will feel no hunger, no thirst, no panic. One, two, ....

Let me guess, the Kentucky woman went down to the child supoort office and complained, and was issued a new check. Or maybe better yet all she had to do what call. WOW! What a nightmare for the poor unemployed woman! Gee, your right this must be the end of the world as we know it when lazy assholes are forced to go out and do some work.

And of course this has absolutley no bearing on Y2K as always. But no one around here bothers to point that out (other than me). Around here you delete the unwanted good reports and embrace the bad news whether it's Y2K related or not. Your like viruses that have a thick doomer protein shell that protects you from good news long enough until you can latch onto some obscure piece of bad news and replicate yourselves enough to cause someone else to panic. After all bad news just isn't the same until you can get THREE or FOUR others to help you spread the fear. Nobody wants to listen to one nutcase screaming about the end of the world. But get a bunch of nutcases together and it's almost like there is something real to fear. Millennial Madness, what a fucking riot.

Truly an amazing scientific acheivment this D&G meme.

Hey "doomers suck", I don't hang around with people who (in my opinion) suck. Why do you?

-- biker (y2kbiker@worldnet.att.net), July 17, 1999.

I don't think you suck, I just think your deluded. I'm not a snob, I'll hang out with you. And hopefully when your finished with your doomer dance you won't be so embarrassed to come back to the real world.

Hey man, I'll leave a light on for you. And I'm sure you know that people who smoke things _other_ than tobacco tend to suffer from paranoia. Just FYI.

Oh your probably wondering about my handle. Just a happy coincidence, my first name is Doomer and my last name is Ssucks. See! That frigging whacky weed is making you paranoid.

Just look at it this way folks. After rollover, the guys like "sucks" will be in the first wave of deaths. Removed from the gene pool, if TSHTF. Darwin would be proud.

Just another ticket holder on the flaming death train to Club Dead.

Mr. Sucks says, "What a nightmare for the poor unemployed woman! Gee, your right this must be the end of the world as we know it when lazy assholes are forced to go out and do some work." Funny, nowhere in the report does it indicate that the woman is unemployed. Mr. Sucks assumes that women receiving child support payments are "lazy assholes". This is from the same guy who, on another thread, treated us to several sick jokes about women being beaten by their husbands.

-- RUOK (RUOK@yesiam.com), July 18, 1999.

The intent of child support is to provide for the child.....who usually isn't working and unable to support their deadbeat little lazy selves. butt-head.
