I'm wondering if anyone knows or has experience with one of the new Sony analog to digital converters?

If so, what kind of generational loss are we talking about when, say one shoots with a Canon L-2 and uses one of these converters to dump the digital video via firewire into your computer?

Wouldn't this still be better than editing on tape as long as you had a decent firewire capture board?
