Florida isn't much for above ground geology, but we have lots of birds! Redtail hawk image taken in my back yard hickory tree with a N70, sigma 400, and sensia 100

Nice shot, Larry. I know someone will tell you that you should have had the hawk move its head to the side to avoid being blocked by the leaf or some such nonsense, but rarely do birds cooperate with me in such a manner. BTW, I think you have an immature red shouldered here, not a red-tailed. RS's have the bright yellow cere, and have the longitudinal streaks on the breast, as opposed to a (sometimes faint) belly band on the immature red-taileds. Looks like you can also see the striping on the tail of this guy too. Good work.

Nice shot! Was the bird out of range for a touch of fill flash?

I like the lighting, compared to the flatter look it would have had with fill flash. Comments about the leaves covering the head are still fair game, though...I end up kicking myself afterwards with these shots, wishing I had moved three feet to the right and ducked a little to get the clean shot.

I take it the mice in your yard stay hidden?
