More clear stuff: Ask the Binary Question

So what can we do? Ask the Binary Question. If the answer is yes than you know the most useful information there is to know. This company, this agency, this business, this government is as ready as it is possible to be for the Y2K rollover. Not only have they completed their remediation and testing but they have also done it soon enough and well enough to be able to trust it for their primary business purposes. They understand and can control their environment to the extent that they can deal with non-compliant suppliers and customers.

Excellent. Just cuts right through to the heart of the beast, doesnt it?

Im going to try it out on my bank tomorrow. Its my revenge for that flier they sent with my last statementthat made me want to slap someone! Snide little brochure. Generic. Probably millions of folks are getting one just like it. On one side, it has a cute cartoon of a fellah snoring away as dollars fall to the floor from his mattress. The caption says, "We're Y2KOK (Or, why your bank is always safer than keeping money under your mattress.) Then, on the other side, it says, [my thoughts, as I read this, in brackets]:

Some people claim you should keep money under your mattress because many computers may not work after the Year 2000. [MAY not work? Many MAY not work? Sheesh.]

[Then, in bold blue print:] But here are the facts. [I havent heard any so far! Thats for sure!]

The banking system is taking every possible step to insure your money will be safe and accessible. [I would like it a lot better if is taking were has taken.] Even bank regulators have said so. [Sigh.} Which means you dont have to worry about your accounts, loans, direct deposits, or even your ATM service. In other words, were Y2KOK (which means were prepared for the Year 2000). But, if you still have questions [Hoboy! I have THE question now!]please give us a callbecause were here for you. [Pul-eeeeze!] [Finally, here comes the part that set my teeth on edge.] So worry about more important thingslike the melting polar icecap, counting the stripes on the nearest zebra, or why the chicken crossed the road. [More big blue print:] Were Y2KOK

Yup. The Binary Question. Love it. Thanks.

If you can get past the sticks and stones, it's really not boring at all.
