O T Senator Bob Smith of New Hampshire has resigned from the Republician Party to run for Pres. Anyone know his position on Y2k? He may be the logical one to

tell the truth about the need to prepare, the failure of remediation etc. etc. He would then have credibility when disaster happens next year and be in a good position to have a strong campaign. Perhaps he could pull another Jesse Ventura where an outsider may have a chance. Does anyone on this forum know his position on the issues that concern us? Anyone here from New Hampshire? Just a thought. Stranger things have happened. Think of the press coverage he would have next year if he took a strong position and turned out to be right.

If he, or for that matter any of the candidates fully understood the ramifications of Y2K they wouldn't be considering a run!

The only Thing I do know about him is that he is AGAINST GUN CONTROL...he says the government is trying to disarm America....that's at least a step in the right direction..

it's kinda curious...I wonder what party he intends to run under?

Reform maybe?

Mike, he is planning to run as the candidate of a party called something like the American Taxpayers' Union, which was founded by a conservative activist named Howard Phillips.

Unfortunately for him, Smith looks too much like Jerry Falwell to be a succesful candidate. And that hairpiece...

I had hoped that, between family values and Y2K, Elizabeth Dole would have a shot, but haven't heard her mention anything.

If we indeed have an election next year, I believe the prize will go to whoever told the truth this year, and did a good job for their constituents. If anyone chooses to, we're waiting...

He is also pro-life.

Smith is considering the USTP (US Taxpayers Party). In a nutshell, this group believes in very limited gov. Such as, scrap the IRS, Dept of Ed, Commerce, HUD, Interior, etc. Ruturn to the constitutional framework. More power to the states and local gov. Pull out of U.N. Gov should follow constitution closely and use it to restrain itself. Get rid of the Federal Reserve. USTP supports strong defense, gold backed currency, pro-life, etc.

Regarding y2k, they have been on top of this for quite some time. They are way ahead of the curve compared to the polly parties.

I am not a spokesman for the group, just have read alot of their material and I seem to agree with most of it. They do believe that one's values should not be compromised for political gain. Quite idealistic.

I wonder if he could find a candidate for VP by the name of Wesson to run with him?

"I wonder if he could find a candidate for VP by the name of Wesson to run with him? "
