I am in the process of checking with manufacturers about products I have around the house. I found a link in here called www.willitwork. I have an older Apple IIgs computer, we do not use it much but still I wanted to make sure it would not die on me. So I checked Apples web page on Y2K. They listed it as "Will not Test". I then called their 800 number, got Tech Support who would not answer me, since it is a Fee for Base Support Line, he tried to redirect me to set up a Fee for Base account so I could get an answer! All I wanted to know if the Damn thing would work after the year 2000! He said he couldn't give me an answer because I am out of the warrenty period. I flipped out and told him when people buy a product and need an answer what are they suppose to do Pay everyone to say yes or no! What has our country come to! Buy our product but once your warrenty is over, do not expect an answer unless you are willing to pay for it!! While I had been writing this I had been on hold with their Customer Rep line, when I got through I was told the Will not Test ment, they didn't have the software to test the product, but she then directed me to go back to their web site to look up a self test to preform for the Computer. I just went to the site she refered me to, it is for Macintosh computers.. I have an Apple IIgs. Well we are going to follow the steps for the test using the Macintosh method, if it dies I will let you know.. No wonder why they are afraid people will sue next year!

Get an iMac. Huge leap forward. Agree with your frustration. Just be happy the Macintosh is easy, powerful, Y2K compliant. Don't run Quicken or Excel. Check the MS web site frequently to determine when you will be able to load Excel without worries.

Cassandra, MHO is that your electrical power, telephone, ISP, motor vehicle, place you purchase gasoline for said MV, and employer all have excellent chances of not functioning for a long time (if ever) after the end of the year. Whether or not your particular PC will work would (if you accept my premises) seem to be irrelevant.

It is my memory that the Apple II computers did not have system clocks. If so, they would be y2k compliant.
