These are hard questions Bart

1. when did Queneau actually write his famous preface/accolade of/for Vian?

I would think 1953 since it is in his signature at the end.

2. Is/was the Cinema Marbeuf in the rue des ecole/latin quarter area?

No idea

3. did vian really declare "These guys are supposed to be Americans! My ass!" during that fateful viewing of I Spit?

I think he may have.

4. Was his father shot in robbery attempt or executed as suspected wwII collaborator?

There is no proof either way -- it is accepted it was a robbery but suspicions still exist.

5. When vian was fined 100,000 francs weren't they old francs? how much was an old franc worth in today's terms?

No idea

6. was it 1950 or 51 when he was actually fined? thanx - will help greatly...

In the summer of 1950 the government officially forbids further sales of the book, and in the following year Vian is sentenced for affront to public morals and has to pay a fine of one hundred thousand francs.

(1951)
