No audio after burning VCD with M.Pack/Toast on Mac

I have a quicktime movie which I converted to a Toast-ready MPEG via Astarte M.Pack 3.0.2. I then use Toast 3.5.6 to burn a VCD. However, I get the video but no sound. Can anyone help? The settings in M.Pack have audio, video, and multiplexing checked. What do the "checksum, copyright, and original" checkboxes for?

Not really an answer but it happened to me too. When generating it from an MPEG (playable in QT 4.0) I got no sound. I got some sound when trying with the Episode I movie (quicktime 4 movie format) but it was cracked. I will try again with a lower bit rate for the audio, 224 kbits/s maybe is inadecuate when the original has about 128.

I've recently started playing the home VCD game and had the same problem. Unless I have the sound set to 224K Stereo, I get no sound. Even with those settings, I get very choppy, distorted sound, which I haven't found a solution for yet. :(

The Astarte M.Pack manual says that this is normal for Toast-ready Mpeg playback using PCs but no problems when using stand alone vcd player. I haven't tried this myself. I just downloaded the demo version for testing.

hope this hel

I have had good luck using Astarte M. Pact, Toast 3.5.7 and Editing Final Cut Pro. The key is that some Video CD, CD-R, CD-RW seem to troubles with playback. My discs play perfect in Philips brand DVD Players. (Even ones that don't say they support Video CD) The Pioneer DV-525 seems to be problematic with this set up. I did get good results out of a high end Sony DVD Player. Video looked the best on the Philips DVD players. Anxious to try out the Apex P
