Looking for "FAQ" editors

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

Posters have often noted that, while the Greenspun style is great for immediate interaction, we sometimes lose threads into the mists of time and the archives ... and then repeat nearly the same content later.

I'm hoping we can roust up a few of us to serve as VERY informal editors of FAQs (ie, if you don't do your job, we promise not to pester you but will merely commiserate on your busy life). It might work like this:

... someone takes responsibility for an area (gardening, firearms, etc).

... they aggregate/concatenate posts on a given subject into one "large" thread thingie over time, but just as a regular word processing style document. Maybe update the word processing doc every month or so.

Once our web gateway page is up (soon, like several weeks), these FAQs can be made available conveniently from there.

Let me know if you're fool enough to help out (seriously, many will appreciate it) and what area you're personally interested in (consult the categories for ideas).

Thanx.

BigDog:

I'll consider doing one on edible wild stuff, mushrooms, herbals (the last is more my daughter's area).

Some contributions of my own, otherwise accumulate.

Gee, I dunno, Big Dog. . .

Would you like an archive of email addresses for local politicians and reporters who have been asleep at the switch?

('Could be a nice companion to a "got rope?" archive.)

Seriously, I appreciate this forum. I know it was a lot of work. Thanks!

Personally B/D,

I'll volunteer to focus on mining the TBY2K archives and providing links here to great threads *there* so we can take advantage of all the awesome preparation posts made over the past year and half.

Will start later this week.

I will be glad to help out in whatever capacity needed. *Sigh, yes I realize what I just said...*. I would enjoy working with the animal/livestock/pet topics or something associated with hot link organization...but really where needed most would be fine.

Uh, can someone teach a salesman and recruiter/headhunter (sorry, all you IT folks out there) how to do a "hot link" before I get started? I completely flunked "Teach yourself HTML in 14 Days".
