Y2K in the Comics

If you didn't get a chance to read the Sunday comics due to holiday celebrations, be sure to check out "Lockhorns." Leroy is asleep on the couch, and Loretta tells a friend, "Leroy shut down long before Y2K." :-)

A few weeks ago, Shoe had the mechanic telling the Professor that for all the expenses of maintaining his decades-old big-finned DeSoto, at least his car was "Y2K compliant"!

Jump Start, a comic about a young black couple, recently mentioned Y2K several times, but it stood for Your 2 Kids. Today the husband points out to his wife that the "crazy next-door neighbor" is burying cartons of freeze-dried food in his backyard. "He's preparing for the collapse of food distribution in the year 2000!" She says, "Crazy, huh?" The husband then says, "I slipped him $100 to bury a few cartons for us!"

Thanks, GA and Pearlie. My paper doesn't carry Jump Start, I guess. I looked for it, but to no avail. That is a VERY interesting message, though!
