Diane or Chuck or BD

Is it necessary that people entering a reasonable question such as the beginning of this thread be subjected to the likes of Y2Kpro? I was not the original poster but I too would like the information. I really think it is about time that you pinned the "Pro" to the wall. (and I don't care if you make him look like a USED Pro.

Lobo,

the pro is elusive - posts under different handles - we could castrate the bastard but I fear that has already been done chemically - as for the POST Office

suggest you go back to the archives and read Big Dogs' exhaustive piece on how the US Postal service will truly go postal after rollover - it will be burnt toast - the article is in-depth and should answer all your questions and more that you hadn't thought of...

Andy... I printed out BD's thesis on the USPO when he published it here. Still very appropriate. I would like to know how close they come to meeting the y2k challenge. Will they make it? Nope. (I still want y2kpro exorcised). I am really tired of the 'kids' that can get in the way of the adults.

Sniff, sniff,

Nose sez poster IS Y2K Pro. Know gambler?

I haven't heard much "good" news as far as the USPS is concerned with Y2K but I do think it will present a better possibility as far as general economics are concerned if the USPO is injured by Y2K. The USPS has two major competitors (FedEx and UPS) neither of which are government subsidized. They (FedEx &UPS) have repeatedly shown themselves to be more reliable and have also maintain more consistancy as far as rates than the USPS,raising their rates every 2 years...

Just the usual "we're on schedule don't panic" polly stuff being echoed in our stand up talks and the occasional bi-monthly video put out nationally out of D.C. I have stopped talking to anyone regarding y2k in general, let alone trying to engage in open inteligent debate on reasons why the USPS MIGHT not be compliant.....I really do work with mostly idiots so its not that big of a shock to me........there has been no special announcement made regarding punishment for those not showing up for work since it is tradionally the time of year that few people get off due to the holidays. Looks like it will come down to a "we're compliant so any problems we experience will be with third parties who aren't..."

Considering the depth and detail of the independent auditor's report and the extreme tardiness in addressing remediation, public silence as of July 5, 1999 says it all.

-- BigDog (BigDog@duffer.com), July 05, 1999.

where can I find the independant auditors report?

Might someone post the link to Big Dog's info on the post office status? I'd like to show somebody I know who works for the post office and swears they are "fine"..."no big deal".. thanks.

Horn's most recent score card indicated the USPS was still in trouble. I'd appreciate an update from nine fingers and the other poster who helped out on this subject earlier this year.

-- Brooks (brooksbie@hotmail.com), July 05, 1999.

My friend is a postal clerk in the Midwest. He thinks that their machines were adjusted for Y2K, but isn't certain because there is a lot of noncommunication. In my post office here, the guy simply said that they don't tell them anything.
