Vortex 2000 (PBS)

M' Gawd....I just saw Vortex 2000 on PBS. I tried to view it as might one who has heard little or nothing about Y2K. From that viewpoint, to put it emphatically, it scared the living shit out of me. Thank goodness it was on PBS which few people watch. Had that been a commercial network presentation, we wouldn't be able to buy toilet paper tomorrow.

I can just see CPR and the Bunkies stewing and fuming, "How can they allow that drivel on taxpayer-supported TV? I'm gonna write the NEA and have then shut down."

I can't imagine what the CBS four-part series will be like.

What station was that broadcast from? I can't find it on the PBS site.

Kind of curious

I'm amazed that I can't either, Brian. I can't believe that it was only broadcast locally. But, even when I checked the local (KPBS) listing page, "Vortex 2000" was the only program listed without a description or link for further information.

I had assumed that, being in prime time (10pm), it was a national feed like "Nova" or "Frontline." That certainly explains the dearth of discussion on this thread.

Caveat Kospinem Emptor.

Let he who buys Kospinem's word on this beware.

My biggest fear is now that the media will inevitably bungle the operation and spark panic themselves. I just watched a local news report on Y2K here and you can't believe how poorly they presented it. One example:

Voice: ....blah...blah...and you may want to have some cash on hand Visual: ...invisible hand throws down stack of one hundred dollar bills which slides toward camera and viewer perspective

Arghhhh!

Happy, Survival isn't vanity. The Bible says, "I have set before you life, Therefore, choose life." Don't be lazy or defeatist. Your obligation as a spiritual being is to survive in your God-given human body, if it is reasonably possible. Our job is simply to exist. Easier to die, of course, but wrong choice.
