You answered your own question, by asking the question. Let me explain.

People(maybe even you) are getting so many mixed signals about y2k, they don't know WHAT to think, or do. No matter what people may think on a personal level, it IS in the best intrest of the government/big business, to convince as many people as possible not to change their spending/saving habits. By you, and many others like you, seeing this story about the klintons, they may prevent another portion of society to take measures(drastic or not)to prepare. This release was soley designed to win back those people teetering on the brink of DOOMERHOOD.

BTW, I bet they will have helio's on the ready to wisk them off to Mt. Weather, if they even have this party. My guess is that, later in the year, events will happen----party cancelled/moved.

It also pre-positions the administration to look righteously indignant when the [expected] failures happen. "Nobody told ME! Look, we were even having a party, cause we thought everything was fine! So it must be the fault of those who report to me!", feel your pain, etc.

I watched Independence Day again the other night. Remember how the Prez stayed in the WH until the last possible minute? His only concern was PR.

Why should the president worry? He doesn't care about the masses. If something should happen it will just be the masses that will kill, plunder, riot and hoard. That won't stop him or his family from being above danger. Bottom line is being safe from any problems that y2k could bring, that is what we all want and he has it.

But in "Independence Day" the president left his wife at the other spot in the center of threat zone (LA ? outside of El Toro airbase? - well anyway, a long way from the capitol!) - where she WAS the eventual victim of the invaders. Truly, an independence day, well for him at least.

Hmmmn. Is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking? After all, Hillary does want to run for office from NY.....

I've put my conjecture on several forums. See what you think: every year Bill & Hill religiously attend The Renaissance Week at Hilton Head, NC on New Years Eve. Perhaps this time he couldn't very well not decline and say, "I really need to be near Camp David, guys, so the helicopters can lift me out after I do all that back-slapping in DC, and like Cinderella, lift off just as the clock strikes midnight." So they concoct a big bash in DC, which puts them right near their bunker at Camp David, where I'll bet the food is stashed that the White House reportedly spent two hours ordering from Utah!!! That means those of us living in the suburbs of DC in VA and MD have to fear not only our own gang members becoming looters, but now we could have those frightened herds of people dumb enough to be in DC that night spilling out all over our area, declining to share the "warming shelters" with the hordes of DC residents, thank you. Brrrrr....

I called the White House at 202-265-1000, then hit "0" to get a comment taker, and raised cain over this the day the story broke in the Washington Post and on CNN Radio that the nation's capitol wasn't going to be ready for Y2K, and was taking all of these precautions. Know what? The call taker seemed to freak out herself, asking me, "Is it true? Is that really in the paper today?" When I assured her that it was, she advised that I also write to Slick Willy (my term, not hers!) at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Wash, DC 20500. This poor woman doubtless lives in DC. Wish you all would call/write/e-mail/fax both the White House and your elected reps to protest this "party." Thanks. Can you tell that I am furious? What is this man all about?!
