Bond information Seaboard All-Florida Railway

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I have a bond from 1916 from Seaboard All-Florida Railway that goes from NY to Florida. I can't to seem to find out any info. on this bond and I would like to. I do know that CSX owns what used to be Seaboard All-Florida Railway. I'm not sure how to turn the bond in for its value or even if I can. If you could help me out in any way it would be appreciated. Thank You, Mr. S. Bruce

Response to Bond information

According to Poor's Manual, the Seaboard All-Florida Railway was incorporated in June, 1925. It leased the lines of the East & West Coast Ry and the Florida Western & Northern Ry and promptly leased itself and these lines to the Seaboard Air Line Railway. All three companies were owned by the SAL, so these corporate gymnastics were intermural in nature.

The Seaboard Air Line Railway guaranteed the bonds and went bankrupt in December, 1930. It is doubtful that these bonds have any value other than that of a collectible. I have a similar bond, though dated August 1, 1925, and have seen many others on the collectible market.

I hope this information helps.
