To all: I noticed al-d's posts had "disappeared." IMO, felt he had been unjustly treated by this forum, but I can only surmise that this is acceptable by all forum posters except me. Others have used my name and email to get back at me for not being offended by al-d's posts,or for whatever sordid little hatreds they could furiously type into being. Anyway, he did post a few lines down using a.r.d. I believe it is the true al-d. Since his posts have been deleted, there is no way to check but the email is different. I just mention it because now someone else is flaming others using his name but old email address. For those of you who were not offended by al-d, just a FYI. For those of you who weren't concerned in one way or another about al-d, of course, you won't be reading this.

Two things happened to al-d...

1) regulars voted a revent delete on this thread

2) On Sunday an unknown troll trashed al-ds threads with HTML code which means that no one could contribute any further answers because the ability to do so was blocked... the threads had to be deleted.

It appears he is now over at the De Bunker site and at Pastor Chriss forum.

I have defended --al-d's posting since day one. I use my real name and Email address. I have never been spammed. I have had only one minor incedent where I suspected a deletion to any of my thoughts on this forumn. There has never, to my knowledge, been an imposter posting in my name. IMHO this is the best Y2K forumn on the planet.

I haven't read al-d's old threads, but was amazed at the violent flaming from people who could have simply skipped over his threads. I came on bleary eyed tired, defended him, and got involved in a regular barbeque fest. Stupid me. Some of the "insults" exchanged are pretty funny, but a certain line of civility should be drawn. I feel that obscene or threatening posts should be deleted (mine included if necessary), but otherwise, Freedom of Speech! I don't mind the extremes on either end of the spectrum. More interesting and enlightening. We all lose if we begin to attack the messenger instead of the message. As I said before, if anyone says they "know" what is or is not going to happen, their credibility diminishes in my eyes. We theorize, we predict, we hedge our bets. Bottom line, I have kids that I am determined to not put at unnecessary risk. Why bank on a Just-in-time society whose morals have deteriorated into "Me first" and "whatever is right in my own eyes"?

As someone who "Dissed" al-d I will add my $.02. I don't mind al-d posting and expressing his opinion, I, in fact, have voiced the opinion that everyone should be allowed to speak here. What I objected to was the volume of nonsensical threads started by al. One after another after another after another. He was asked several times to stop that practice or risk deletion, and he chose not to stop. So if you feel the need to cry for al, about how unfair it all is, don't hold your breath waiting to see my cheeks wet from tears.

As long as he behaves himself, I have no problem with him posting here.

Diane, I hope you can understand that I do not trust your explanation about the reasons for the al-d deletions. You have openly stated that"as one of the Forum moderators...speaking for myself...and some*others*... we're tired of the al-d dribble, too." IMO, for all I know, you or any of the "moderators" could be the "unknown troll" or trolls who trash or sabotage the threads of those whose "dribble" offends you. Unc D, how do you know that the "volume of nonsensical threads" that you objected to were started by al-d and not someone else? He stated others were using his name. So how can you truly know? My questions now are what constitutes "dribble" and "nonsensical" threads? Anything the forum moderators deem as such? Much too much thought policing going on here IMO. I will object when I think someone has been unfairly treated--it's part of my heritage as an American. What alarms me are the numbers of posters here who don't. I'm wondering also if this is a preview, in a microcosm, of the real Y2k mindset right now-as illustrated by the Forum moderators. This person's comments are "dribble" and "nonsensical" so delete? IMO, this forum ,for all practical purposes, has become a closed one. Judgement are being made by those who "moderate" as to what constitutes dribble and nonsense but these standards are not available for all to peruse. I am fortunate for having become aware of the issue of Y2k partly through the conversations that have been presented here in this forum. I would like that freedom of speech and thought to continue. I feel it is being usurped. I believe that no one here or anywhere has a corner on the truth, any truth,including the truth about Y2K. It's just one of those things IMO that one has to seek and determine for themselves. I hope that those who feel the same will speak up for those freedoms and protest when they are jeopardized by those who are making judgements about the value of content on this forum but are not willing to define the terms.

Why don't you use your head for something other then a hatrack. Al-D is posting as al-d. Which part of that do you not understand? I challenge you to show me 5 posts of al-d's that either made sense, did'nt have Jesus in them, or was'nt talking about how bad everyone else here is. He posted over 100 times, so happy hunting. You will dismiss this post and tell us that we need to back off al-d. I would guess that if you are a parent you give your kids time out, ey? "Now stop it Johnny or I will give you time-out"

Others took the liberty of using al-d's name to post, thatis what al-d stated and it happened to me as well. The question remains, can those who chose to delete or voted to delete his opinions prove that he was the author of the offensive posts? Since the delete function is based(?) on offensive "dribble" or "nonsensical" threads, the burden of proof is on the forum and the forum moderators to prove "offense," is it not? Or is this another"judgement call?"
