Where is the DC in trouble article?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just went to look for it and it is gone. Will one of you net experts find it for me. The title under which I had it saved now displays some kind of Bullshit about Los Angeles and assuring the people that the grid won't go down. If this article has been expunged after just 24 hrs, we are in a world of sh t.

It was right here on this site when I printed it out. It should also be on www.washingtonpost.com. I'm no web expert, but that's where I saw it, as well as on the front page of The Washington Post itself.

Here's the link to the article in the Washington Post. Washington D.C. Plans to Mobilize Emergency Workers

harringtondesignX@earthlink.net), June 29, 1999.

Well, my hot link didn't work. Sorry. Here is the url. I was just there a minute ago! http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/WPlate/1999-06/28/057l-062899- idx.html Highlight it, copy it, paste it into your address bar.

-- Mommacares (harringtondesignX@earthlink.net), June 29, 1999.

Gosh, now I feel like a real idiot. Those links don't work even though the address is correct. Here's a workaround. Go to Yahoo full coverage, y2k problem. http://headlines.yahoo.com/Full_Coverage/Tech/Year_2000_Problem/ Then click on "more". Look for the article from yesterday's Washington Post. That's the one.

Moderators: is there any way to get this forum to allow a preview of posts so they can be tested before they are actually posted? thanks (real email remove the X)

Still can't use the link. I think the Washington Post has killed this story on the internet, anyway. I did see it on their front page last Monday.

Bill,

I was able to locate the article again by going to the Washington Post site and searching their database. I left the "headline" blank and put in the author's name (Eric Lipton) and put "District prepares for y2k" in the space for phrases in the first few lines of the article. It brought it up no problem. I copied the address, http://search.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/WPlate/1999-06/28/057l-062899- idx.html

but I suspect it is the same as has already been posted. Hope this helps.

Lets see if this works.

DC Article

If that doesn't work just go to the Washington Posts website and do a search for "y2k". It's the article by Eric Lipton.

Oooops. Gina beat me to it. Sorry.

Hey Gang:

I have tried all of the procedures recommended with squat result. Where in the hell is it? Bad enough that my 2nd ammendment rights are in peril, but is there one amungst you that can defend this theft of our 1st ammendment? This really stinks bad.

Hi Folks,

Glad to see you are still alive and kicking. Regards from New Zealand.

-- Bob Barbour (r.barbour@waikato.ac.nz), June 29, 1999.

Hi Bob! Good to see you! How is winter in NZ? Is it colder or milder this year?

Bill, glad they worked for you!

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), June 30, 1999.

Gayla,

Long Indian summer. Some fruit trees had blossom early. Lambs and spring flowers were early. At the present, it is a cool 15 degrees Celcius (about 60ish F). next year's garden surveyed and ready for digging in a month to six weeks. New job, too much work to do, Y2k still the wild card here.

Hope things are going well for you.
