Long Trip/ Several Seasons

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Travelite.FAQ Packing Guide : One Thread

I will be studying abroad for seven months from Jan. to July. I want to carry as little as possible but am concerned about the different seasons. I will be in Madrid and traveling through the Continent for five of those months and will be in several different climates. For the remaining months I will be in London, which also has a different climate. How must I pack? Help!

Dear Grace, My best advice is to get clothes you can layer (you'll hear this a lot), especially things like a cotton twinset that has a sleeveless shell and a cardigan. Cotton knit pants that you can wear over cotton tights are great, and denim or other heavy shirts that you can wear open over a tank top, or layered under a cardigan, are good options. I've got tons of specific advice, if you want to e-mail me directly. Good luck!
