I don't know about the newswire article you are referring to but, last evening on the movie awards, actor Jim Carey, famous for several recent blockbuster movies ie Truman Show, made a comment, as he was being led back stage, something to the effect, "when this Y2K thing hits we're ,,,,?? The live audience in attendance never saw it, only for the TV lurkers.

Simply Careys personal take on the current state of Y2K, or spinmisters com-op to move the masses, even subliminaly, towards acceptance? I have found the more staid DWGI's to be among the Teens. Given they really have the most to lose, I can see why they would block out the possibilities.

Well you can duck, but you can't hide. Prepare ladies and gentlemen and boys and girls, for the ride of the millinieum.

discused before, but couldn't find the link.

4 part series (CBS?) delinating y2k and supposedly dealing with the aversion to truth that seems to run rampant in our .gov. First part is tame (deals with 2 digit year codes?), then it's supposed to get into investigative reporting.

we'll see.

I don't think there was a link to the CBS thing--or it was subscriber only. I would love to know when this thing is supposed to run. That will move people--at least another 10 percent. When I seriously talk to people I like to alert them, even though at first they seem to blow it off, when you get right down to it, they acknowledge the possibility but just don't want to prepare because it is too overwhelming. E.g., ran into a friend who was in Army Intelligence during Vietnam. He was not in prep mode, feels he has no property to lose, etc. Sheesh if DC is preparing to this extent, doesn't that give anyone a clue that something is screwloose? The American Hospital Association says everything is fine and then you read that D.C. General is only 48 percent prepared. Uh. Oh well. GOd bless. I hope everything is fine. I really do. I don't mind wasting money preparing for a false alarm!!!

Y2KNEWSWIRE has recently learned that a well-respected documentary producer has just completed work on two parts of a four-part Y2K series. This documentary series, we are told, will air on a major television network in the coming weeks. Which network? CBS. While we do not have the airdate, we spoke with the producer today who informed us that the distributor of the documentary is in the final stages of negotiation with CBS for the time slot. It may slip to July, perhaps even several weeks into July. But it is coming soon. The first part of this documentary, entitled, "Y2K: A world in crisis?" is fairly mild. It introduces people to Y2K: the concept, a summary of the potential problems, etc. This may or may not get through to people.

But the second part, (title as of yet unknown) covers the Y2K cover- up. It calls into question the claims by the federal government that Y2K has been solved. Y2KNEWSWIRE has learned that this second part was just recently wrapped up and sent to the distributor.

The third part of this documentary series will cover various sectors of the economy.

By the way, this series, after debuting on CBS and reaching over 150 major television market, then moves to cable. Fifteen cable channels are reported to be lined up for this. That means the documentary will be reaching tens of millions of American households.

THE IMPACT Remember, Y2K has for the most part been an Internet phenomenon. That means people who aren't on the 'net are getting nothing but the spin: the govt. version of Y2K. They're out of the loop. But this television documentary may be their first opportunity to see the spin challenged. This may force a lot of people to finally question the validity of the promises now being offered by the White House, big business and federal agencies. It may create just a bit of suspicion in the "official" explanation and encourage them to take action.

Should this happen on any kind of widespread scale, the rush to purchase preparedness supplies will be on. In this scenario, you will no longer be able to easily buy the items you need. As a result, it is important that you get what you need right now.

Beyond that, this is about the very real potential for a major shift in public perception on the Y2K issue. Should this documentary get through to people, it could easily counter all the spin now being put out by the federal government.

Watch for the CBS listing, and make sure you tune in. Remember, the first show is nothing explosive, but the second begins to wake people up. The third part gets even more interesting. We do not yet have the details of what's planned for the fourth part, but we will be sure to bring you that information when it becomes available.

just trying:

I appreciated your post and noticed your comment regarding how Y2K awareness has spread through the Internet.

This afternoon at work a man came in to take inventory, and I mentioned the recent solar flares in comparison to Y2K. When he asked me where I learned this information, I replied "from the Internet". He scoffed. Even though he has an Internet connection, he's too busy with other matters to be online much. Apparently he is distrustful of alarming news posted on the Internet. Perhaps if I had told him I'd seen it on CBS's "Sixty Minutes" he might have given it some consideration.

There are so many hyperbolic Y2K writings on the Internet that I can see how he and others discount news obtained from the Internet. They seem to think newspapers, magazines and television are far more credible and not as easily manipulated. Hah!

Yeah, whenever I talk to someone new about this, I try to avoid mentioning the net. Cause you know there's no one but Nazis and UFO nuts and perverts there...

You forgot to mention the religious nuts!

I feel left out...
