Uh..., there have been several threads on this already and I won't bother repeating everything that's already been said there -- other than to state that, at this point, there is apparently no credible scientific evidence that exists to suggest that Lee is anything other than a minor, garden variety, long period comet.

Also, I do not have a problem with the dicussions of prophecy per se, but any supposed 'scientific' discussion of this comet that simultaneously mentions Nostradamus (as does the above link) should be viewed with a good deal of skepticism.

Is is scientifically possible that some large comet or asteroid, at some point, could either directly impact the Earth or otherwise have devastating effects here. Yes. It's already happened and, in fact, over the long haul, very likely to happen again. But is Lee such a likely candiate? Unless someone can point to substancially more credible evidence than the link above, I will remain leaning towards the negative.

If it turns out to be fact...should we contact Bruce Willis? What are the preparation suggestions for this scenerio? Put down the pic-nic table umbrella? "Uncle"...........

Bend over and KISS your asteroid goodby!

Impact on earth of a large cometary nucleus would render all preparation moot. So far the projected orbit of Comet Lee takes it through the Earth's orbital plane at quite a considerable distance from Earth itself.

This is really interesting stuff. Actually, I really hope that more info on this subject gets posted here. I plan on following it closely. There are several issues involved here, only one of which involves a direct strike.

May I add this tidbit. A source- I can't name names - told me late Fall 1998, that a very reliable source who works in the field of astronomy/interteriestrials, gave him a heads up that something big was going to happen involving a blue-green object in the sky that would be visible within 6 months or so. His heads up was taken seriously by his life-long buddy, enough so thathe made real changes in his life.

I was intrigued by this info and came home and told my partner about this. He thought about it and looked in vain in comet info available then for something that would match this. He noted that blue-green colour in an object of this sort means it's coming towards us. It could be a comet, or in fact an inter-steller "traveler"-ie: alien vehicle of some kind. He suggests reading "Footfall" by the Lucifers Hammer authors.

anyway- the point of this rambling piece is that the heads up I was given in late Fall re: this by someone connected to official gov't activity means that this object was not really "discovered" this april as the PR reports. It WAS known to the gov- at least the US gov't since last Fall or before and it's existence has been covered up until an "amateur" would "discover" it- which was inevitable.

I think that there is a coverup going on here- this is potentially way bigger than Y2K could ever be. So- please keep the info coming. Discounting this due to a tendency to put stuff like this into the whole "millenium madness" predictions category is no different than the way the DWGI's approach Y2K. So can we be open-minded here and keep our eyes open?

Yes we can be open minded, some of us (No Spam?).

Check out the Nostradamus, Mother Shipton, Cayce, Mayan and Hopi predictions for the coming months of 1999 - specifically the july to September timeframe - it is quite amazing how their is a confluence at work here...

-- Andy (2000EOD@prodigy.net), June 28, 1999.

Oh yeah Arnie: actually- there is nothing thatI've heard of to suggest that "comet" Lee is any sort of "garden variety comet" as you suggest. In fact- the info that I've heard suggests otherwise. One thing to ponder- other than the color of course- is why it seems to change course? should it not remain in a specific orbit? Or is it "self-powered" and changing course? Intriguing thoughts......

Other issues, if in fact it is a comet, even if no direct hit, is that it may interact with the solar flares, potentially leading to serious "flare-ups" from the sun- sort of like a giant blow torch- aimed at the earth if conditions are right- which would seemingly have the potential to toast large portions of our planet........

Andy, who do you know who can read Mayan glyphs? When did they find any predictions about comets or anything else? I'd sure like to see some info on that.
