China ups the stakes by offering asylum to milosovic

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

In case you missed what is happening China is now offering Asylum to Milosovic. Why would China offer him asylum. Is it to snub the west. Are they playing a game here. Milosovic is a brutal War criminal with a 5 million dollar bounty on his head. He is brutal, evil why are they doing it. If china wants to help they should keep out of this one. They better stop playing this Nuclear chess game with the west. Arming pakistan,Iran,Iraq,Syria,North korea, Libya, columbia and boliva to the teeth with W.M.D.'s is no Laughing matter and they better stop it. If they want to continue to do bussiness with the west. but are politicans are so asleep.

Meanwhile the World Bank is planning to give China a $160 million loan, $40 million of which is to "relocate" 58,000 FARMERS to a desert wasteland in Tibet (and promises that they will not be used in the forced-labor camps which are there). Don't know what the other $120 million loan is for, but there is a big rush on to complete the loan before June 30th, because $100 million of it only goes to poor countries or something like that, and China is getting so prosperous that they won't meet the requirements after June 30th. Lots of screwy details about this loan... none of which have anything at all to do with Y2K of course. If you are interested, do a UPI or YAHOO search for "Qinghai".

Are we still offering to pay China for accidentally bombing their embassy?

You don't suppose China would turn over Slobo for the $5 million bounty? Nah... it'll cost us a LOT more than that.

Can you just imagine China requesting this amount in 'nothing smaller than Tens please'. Perhaps they should simply issue Travelor's Checks.

China's old guard is having fun while they can.. they know they're toast... in two years, it'll be the warlord society again, and who will give a shit? They know after the current drought, added to by y2k infastructure collapse, plus the starving North Koreans they have been turning back at their borders, not to mention the former Soviet states to the north that still have a few bones to pick.. they'll have their plates full soon... we're not on the menu... reminds me of the old saying, when your up to your nose in shit, don't open your mouth... it's only to their necks now, but rising fast.. :)

How on earth is this upping the stakes? They've offered him a coward's way out. If only he'd take it!

Of course, it might mean he'd escape justice, in this life anyway. But if the result were a less hateful regime in Belgade, it would be a good trade. And even if not, he'd rapidly become a nobody and the world would move on.

I request this be deleted. It's not gloomy enough and is not in line with the thought patterns of the forum!

Nigel...how dare you not subscribe to the gloom!
