Let's bombard the US with Y2K talk on July 4

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Many of us will be at gatherings of some kind on the 4th of July. If each one of us talks to 4 people about Y2K, just think of the impact we can make.

You don't even have to let on the you are a "GI" (got it). You can just insert into the conversation:

"Did you hear what happened in Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago? A Year 2000 test caused a 3-4 million gallon sewage spill. That's got me thinking that this Y2K thing may really be a problem."

If we all do this, we may get a million people thinking... (or more?)

Come on folks - you can do it!

You know Pro, you really are something else. If you only knew what a joke you've become on this forum. And people wonder why we're concerned about the "aviation industry"... <:)=

-- Sysman (y2kboard@yahoo.com), June 26, 1999.

I think the closest Pro(?) ever came to the "aviation industry" is when he and dad unpackaged that beautiful balsa baby and wound up the rubber band propulsion system. Probably never figured out that you had to "let go of it" to make it fly...just stood there and watched the propeller go round and round...still doing the same thing I see...

Hi BiGG,

Funny, I said almost those exact words a few months ago. I would dig it up out of the archive, but I have since proposed a "truce" with his kind, and don't want to start another BS war. Sometimes though, Pro makes such, well, such moronic statements, that I can't resist at least posting something. I'm trying to ignore most of the new batch of noise here, but sometimes... <:)=

Oh, and Hi Sally! I agree, make some noise about Y2K!!!!! Not too much, unless you're with close friends. Just a few remarks here and there. Maybe drop a URL if someone brings up the net. Sure can't hurt!

Sorry about the distraction with the class clown... <:)=

Sysman,

You're absolutely right, I wouldn't give this guy the time of day in person, I will "change my ways". Sorry Pro(?) I apologize for everything I have said.

Y2K Pro = Government Spook, why else would he come across as so misinformed and generally ignorant? No, you have to get paid to act as dumb as Y2K Prozac.

I don't know abt y2k pro but I have wondered if there are gov't people on here trying to off set what this forum is doing.

Awareness is dead, long live awareness.

Dinty:

I had the same reaction.

I do not understand why people waste their time replying to the distractions. These people are like stray cats. If you feed them intermittently, they keep coming back. If you ignore them, they will go away.

They will not go away if they have an insidious purpose, in which case the solution is still the same. If you ingnore them,it will not allow them to succeed in their goal of distraction.

"Pro" - wait till we all put our solar ovens on the front lawn...E.T. phone home? -lol

(BTW, I plan to test my newly made version today. Expecting some raised eyebrows from the neighbors. Will be a good opportunity to explain the dynamics and show them it works.)

...seems the Doomers just can't laugh at themselves - not that that's uncommon among menbers of cult groups - alittle too sensitive perhaps. You just talk to your neighbours this weekend about the coming "end of the world", I'm sure they'll be VERY interested....

Sally

Interesting that you should mention that. I am in Canada and our national holiday is on July first. The largest food store chain and Credit Union in the area is having a Y2K draw for $250 worth of Y2K supplies at the local Canada Day events. They are commuity leaders in Y2K awareness and have folders at the business that the tellers - check out folk hand out. I am impressed.

Y2K pro you are sometimes a real twit. I fully believe that the businesses contributing the above are just communicating common sense for people to understand being ready for ANY emergency and if it was up to you, we would be trapped in a major problem. I am sure away from your computer that you are just a total loss as a human and have no skills that you could contribute in an emergency. Come to think of it at the computer you are a total loss.

y2k pro must really enjoy the company around here to keep putting in his stupid wise cracks.HE IS A Lonesome person or he would go a way if he didn't believe any thing was going to happen. He may be clinton in disguise or one of his jabronies. He also sounds like most of the people you talk to.Just ignore him and he would dissapear.I have learned a lot from this forum the best i have found.
