Over burning a copy of a VCD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I'm trying to burn a VCD from another homemade VCD. Problem being, It has 670 megs to copy. I have tried to over burn it. The software (NERO) sez it's been copied successfully, but the picture plays choppy like. (it starts and stops randomly) I've defragged the HD. I've tried different types of blank CD media, I have a Sony 2x8 CD-R. Any help sure would be appreciated.

I suspect you don't need to 'overburn' at all....try using WinOnCD 3.5. This program reads acurately your actual available space on the blank CD...I've tried 2 different brands of blank CDs(74 min) and there was actually 656Mb available on one and 658Mb available on the other. Adaptec, Nero and some other programs default to 650Mb and don't display the actual available space on your CDR media. This will save you from buying 80 min media. Your choppy picture could also be the result of playing the VCD on a CDROM that's too fast. I use my CDR(8X read) and they play fine. My 24X CDRom tends to chop them up after the first 20 minutes.

Anyway, I'll see you at work tomorrow anyway.....HAH!
