Why do I get 'source errors' trying to copy VCDs?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have a 4X Matsushita CDR utilizing Adaptec CD Creator Deluxe Ver 3.0. I also have a 24X Toshiba CD Rom. When I attempt to simply use the 'copy' option on the program, it continually drops out on the test phase with 'source problems'. I suspect it may have something to do with the capabilities of my CDRom? I can create a VCD just fine....just can't copy one! Need someone's help. Thanks.

The fact is that you are trying to make a CD to CD copy and sometimes you cannot; I had this problem and I have destroyed a lot of CD, 'till I discovered a way that worked fine. It's so simple. You use only the recorder, first make an image of the CD (with any software) and then do the write process. One important fact to take into consideration is that not all programs can copy VideoCD's, in fact, most of them cannot (for example CD COPIER from ADAPTEC). I'm using "DISC JUGGLER (PROFESSIONAL DISC DUPLICATOR FOR WINDOWS)"; it copies WHATEVER you put in the CD RECORDER ... OK, hoping you solve your problems ... Bye, DIEGO.
