According to information on state Year 2000 activities reported to the National Association of State Information Resource Executives as of June 17, 1999, states reported having thousands of mission-critical systems. With respect to completing the implementation phase for these systems, 5 states reported that they had completed between 25 and 49 percent, 13 states reported completing between 50 and 74 percent, and 30 states reported completing 75 percent or more.
