Are you sure you got the link right? This took me to what appears to be a copy of the IEEE document itself, and not the commentary. Perhaps the link is right under my nose, but I'm missing it.

I vote to delete this thread. WHAT IS THE POINT OF IT?

-- Joe Six-Pack (Average@Joe.Blow), June 24, 1999.

The point is there are people in this world who can actually read. The article talked about lawyers and liability post 1/1/00. It recommended that the gov limit these lawsuits. The reasoning included that companies will need to fix any problems that come up. Well, duh. No one believes that there won't be problems. No one believes that in any project everything is perfect. A number of defects manage to escape into production. No big news here guys. Get over it.

Dancr,

That link is correct. The format of postings in that forum differs from the format in this forum. It happens that the poster of that item copied much of the IEEE document verbatim in its own font and so forth. Keep pressing your Page Down key a dozen times or so, and you'll get to the bottom where you'll see the links to all the responses to that posting. There isn't much commentary in the original posting -- you'll have to take the various links to see the commentary in the responses.

Dancr: The commentary is at the very bottom of Dot's link, after the IEEE letter.
