Thanks for posting the update. I had checked earlier and it wasn't up yet.

I was especially appreciative of Cory's estimate of true readiness as 50-60%. (vice 93% "official estimates")

Hmmm... Let's see. The likes of the FAA and IRS spent billions for years and couldn't fix their systems before Y2K appeared on the horizon. Now they are at 93% or 79% or whatever. I guess the secret is that the whole Federal information systems staff must have gone to Lourdes.

If they go back in the future, I suggest that they not fly.

Well, that is indeed interesting. My guess is that they don't have any idea how far along they are. I'll make a prediction though. They will never claim to be 100% compliant. They have to leave some kind of margin so that if/when an error occurs, they will be able to blame it on the 'unfinished' portion. To claim 100% compliancy could backfire in their face rather quickly. I don't think that they'll allow that to happen.

MMMMMM,, lets see here,

93% in Mar

No senator, that was from an estimate. 93% is from a report 2 wks ago.

ok then

93% in Jul

94% in Aug

95% in Sep

96% in Oct

97% in Nov

98% in Dec

woops outa time,, You mean 1% could possibly create this much havoc?

Sorry, I guess I better clearify that. When I say "if/when an error occurs" I mean pre Y2K. You know, kinda like the sewage spill....how they were supposedly so fortunate that they found the problem now instead of next year. It would look pretty bad if they claimed to be 100% and then have something like this happen.

One of the best I have read in awhile.

The OMB report is less than clear on certain issues. The only issue that seems to be really clear is Health Care is behind. And it is clearly focused on the suppliers.

It might be interesting to focus on the legal implications. The Lawyers must have their fangs sharpened by now.

Just a quick reminder about this document on the status of high- impact federal programs:

Now who will the pollys believe...Cory or the gov.? We know, of course, which is why they are called Pollyanna.

I remember programmers going up to Jim Lord during a break at one of his lectures and telling him the gov. figures were a joke. That was all it took for me.

Cory, did you know you can dry Krispy Kremes and vacuum seal them?
