remember your pets while preparing for y2k

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Pets are a very important part of your family when making y2k preparations. I call them our fur children. Make sure that you store extra food, and kitty litter for the cat owners and extra chew bones and pet treats. Just like humans our pets will be stressed from y2k to. Also in your bug- out preps make sure you have an a good animal carrying case that will be comfortable for that long trip out of town if it becomes necessary.

al-d that is because you are a rambling moron. Mike on the other hand has more to post then just items about pets. If you made sense more then 10 percent of the time maybe other posters would not consider you to be a crack smoker.

Courtesy and sociability are survival traits. Hint. Only a fool burns his bridges before he crosses them.

Dogs are (sometimes) great perimeter alarms and Y2K compliant pest control devices. Cats are great pest removers too, even if they can't catch mice, their aroma will sometimes keep pests away.

Al-d,

Nice try to deflect the idea that you are the imposter of yourself. Why in the world would I want to pretend I am a drug crazed idiot like yourself?

Right on, Mike! I picked up an extra 100# of kibble for my faithful furry family retainer. I will pick up dog bones and chew bones when they come up on sale...and some cat food for the manic cat.

There is something about a 115# dog that deters many would-be wrongdoers, even though he is a marshmallow. He's good people to talk to, too, when I don't want to bother God with my piddlin' problems.

I was going to buy a British Bulldogg, but decided to wait and see what happens after rollover - wouldn't be fair to the dog or me.

ANDY, if your gonna wait til rollover' there,ll probably be so many poor throw-away dogs-you can have your-pick.besides 1 bulldog ain,t gonna cut it'if y2k-is bad.gangs of hoods ain,t scared of 1 dog. but 5-or6, keeps em-confused. no-one wants to get-hit from behind. just-a-thought.

Dear Mike,

Your last sentance re a carrying bag made me laugh. Our hound stands 6'6" tall not including his tail & weighs more than me. Food wise,I'm laying in an extra 2lbs pounds of rice per day for him & he will have "home caught" fish as the main protein source...supplemented by game & the odd tin of dog meat. His breed is happiest at about a 10% to 12% protein content unlike other breeds which are usually fed betwen 18 to 21% .l'm buying in those toughened bones & hard crunchy biscuit. He is going to have all his shots this autumn including rabies.

Good advice from you though. The last thing children need is to loose their family pet on top of all the other things that could happen.
