September 1999, Planetary alignments, solar flares.....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Ok, Y2K problems may or maynot occur. What about planetary alignments? Will this have an affect on planet earth? What about predictions from the great prophets, earth changes, tsunamis etc. etc. etc.... Any thoughts??

PJ,

I've heard people mention a planetary alignment on 5/5/2000, and that solar activity could peak during the first four months of 2000. I've never heard about predictions for this type of thing, though, predicted for September. Any reason in particular you mention that month?

Hello,

In recorded history we have literally seen dozens if not hundreds of planetary alignments and survived without incident. The mass of the combined planets is simply too small, and the distances from Earth too great to have anywhere near the effect of good ol' Sol.

Any effects the alignment may have on you and me is strictly up to us as a people.

You can probably say the same thing for the worst probable effects of Y2K. :)

You can read about the 5/5/2000 alignment at:

The planets will be on the other side of the sun...little (as in it will be like the moon moved 1 km closer) to no effect.

"The planets will be on the other side of the sun...little (as in it will be like the moon moved 1 km closer) to no effect." b

But on another level, belief that the alignment is significant will have an effect. One more twig on the millennial fire.

Alan! Ha! I love it. But then, I sometimes listen to the Art Bell Show. So what do I know.
