Epson 1200 is amazing!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

To All, After printing with the 1200 for 3 days, I have concluded that this is the first inkjet printer that gives results equivalent to the prints I make in my 'wet-darkroom'. And, this is based on printing only at 720 dpi! I'm not sure how much has to do with the smaller drop size or whatever other advances have been incorproated into this new printer, but I am blown-away by the clarity and 'smoothness' to the image quality. It's amazing! Howard

I agree, but always print in 1440 dpi mode. I received my Epson 1200 on 6/15 and have nearly depleted a color ink cartridge. The 1200 is definitely an improvement over the 700/EX, so Epson is still the king of the cheap inkjet printers. I can only hope that the shadow gradation will be improved even further in the next generation.

BTW, were you able to find the 13x19" Photo Paper (41143) anywhere?

Hi, I have never needed that size paper. Buycomp usually has all their papers and the cheapest prices by far! ($6.40 for A-4/Letter Photo paper) In side by side comparisons, I could not tell the difference between 720 and 1440 prints. With the PhotoEx it used to be dramatic. Howard

I have been using the Epson 1200 for three days, and I can say that this is one of the best printers I have seen in this price range or even at a higher Price. I am using the Fuji Mx2700, and printing on photo paper, the color is fantastic, I think it is even somewhat better than the Alphs 5000 that I have been using (much faster and and the fact that you can use wider and longer paper makes it more usable.

I have not been a great fan of epson ever since my stylus color 800, I could not stand the constant back and forth ceremony that would go on when you tried to change the INK... it seemed to never stop and was a real hassle. The epson 1200 so far seems much better in this area, and I now have time for Golf...

Anyway, if any one else has a good or negative comment on this unit ,please let us know.

Always looking for a good price on Espon Photo paper !!!!!!

Regards, AD

I find that onsale.com usually has all the Epson consumables at a price close to (and sometimes better than) buy.com. Just visit the site and search by Epson part#. PLUS they throw in Free Shipping!

Is the Epson 1200 basically a wide carriage Photo 750?
