Has anybody been to Europe with the Samsonite 700 Series luggage? We just purchased two sets of the 22"x14"x 17" or whatever main suitcase with two exterior pockets, that slants when it stands alone so the tote bag doesn't topple it over...and the matching tote bag, which snaps on after you attached it over the handle so it doesnt flop over. Looked good to us, and is very, very maneuverable (empty, at least!) Just wondering if any one has ever actually taken a long trip with it.

Judy -- I checked the Samsonite web site. Are you talking specifically about their Carry-On Upright Suiter? The web site doesn't give dimensions, but it sounds like yours. They're charging $370 at their web site. A little more than the Cordura-based softsided packs. I'd be interested to know how much the thing weighs empty. I suspect the quality and workmanship is high, and it will last you a long time. As for whether it is easy to move around, I think it depends a lot on the type of travel (and cobblestone streets!) you plan on heading out for.

Actually, it is the Large EZ Cart Suiter with attachable tote, in the 700 series (Silhouette 6). It is fairly heavy empty...but the maneuverability is awesome..turns on a dime, can PUSH it, pull it, all very easily. We plan on visiting Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, and Amsterdam again in late summer. Traveling from country to country by train, staying at **** hotels (Ritz in both London & Paris)...but there will be a lot of cabs and trains. It is alsos quite deep, and has to snap in dividers, so you can stand it upright and use it as a "dresser" on arrival..four wheels (6"large rear wheels), removable suitpak, push button handle which is adjustable). The suitcase itself is 24x17x14...had bought the 500 series at Sears and then saw these at another store and liked them much better, but the price was about $200 more per set..so checked out "Luggagesource.com" on the internet, and lo and behold, got them for $20 more per set. The folks there are very friendly, by the way...and gave us a free travel iron and blow dryer just for ordering over $150, I think, and handwrote notes to us.

Anyway, about the luggage, I am not worried about the maneuverability as I dont think we will be on any back streets, but am a little worried about the size and the weight...is that too big a suitcase to be lugging around Europe? We could always buy the carry on size. We dont leave till 8/23.

Anyone have any input?

Dear Judy, I have one of those bags - I use it to go to Paris, New York and other trips and love it. My only warning would be to remember that things will slide inside your suitcase when you've got it tilted up - if you use the bundle folding method, sometimes the whole bundle will shift and everything will wrinkle. I got some of those packing bundle holders and have had no further problems. And it is truly manoeuverable!

EZ Carts are super!!! I would only travel in Europe with a medium size bag per person. QUESTION: I am desperately looking for an American Tourister or Samsonite Medium size EZ cart - dimensions: 22 x 14 x 16 OR 21 x 9 x 14.
