back to the basic's screens came today

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hey everyone,

I have had extra screens order for 3 months now from the back to the basic's people. Today my berry, salsa, grape, and pumpkin screens came ups. Boy, was I glad to see those. The apples are growing on the trees, the cherry's are gone, and the blackberries should be here soon. I have always done things the old way with tomatoes/salsa etc. Have friends who say this thing is wonderful for applesauce and cutting time etc. Wondered if any of you out there are familiar with this equipment and have any good old tips or receipe's for crab apple jelly, etc.

Hi Dinty!

What are you talking about? "I have had extra screens order " What does this mean? Sounds interesting but I don't know what it is. Please 'splain.

Hi Mb,

I have a back to the basic food strainer and sauce maker. It simplifies making apple sauce , jams etc. You can put your apples/tomatoes/berry's in the top and it makes sauce that comes out one end and the "parts" you don't want the other. Suppose to be great for time conservation. We have alot of apple trees, crab apple trees, and black berries around here. I was going to can tons of apple sauce, apple butter, and jellies. If it got really bad flat bread and jelly would do quite well. Plus, applesauce or pumkin can be used in place of an egg in receipes for the moisture. I thought there might be some experienced "saucer" out there with some good hints....esp crabapple jelly receipe!

Oh, so that's what it is. Thanks. Hope you'll post your experiences with this as they happen. Good luck!

I'll let you know how it goes. I was really suprised when I order them this spring and they were back logged on the orders. I could see grain mills etc but not these items...wow! Maybe it's a sign they are popular for reasons other than y2k...Am planning on having alot of time off in July/August just for preps. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the interest.

Buy a box of sure-gel has the recepie inside. Something like 5 cups of juice, 7 cups of sugar. It easy.
